idiot drivers in floods

why do most drivers go  at inappropriate speeds through floods causing bow waves? in flooded streets these waves often overtop the sandbags sending water into peoples houses. how selfish ? it is testament to modern cars that they keep going. these drivers should be fined for driving carelessly. at worst they're stupid and don't know what's under the water.

privatised BBC?

have you noticed, yet again, the BBC news plays on Boxing Day to an "empty" room behind. of course the journalist s are home with their families. So why are all those computers and screens on? don`t they know how to shut them down? if it was a council there'd be outrage yet its our money they're wasting.

Are the lights going off?

I've said this before - the country does not have a coherent Energy policy. This helps confirm this.

Robbing the poor to pay the rich (to build windfarms) will not solve the problem.

A&E league tables

See how your local Hospital is performing regards to A&E admissions etc. I don't think the figures are particularly accurate. However, its worth looking to give you an idea of what to do in an emergency if you have a choice of hospitals near you.

To me A&E is for EMERGENCIES amd minor injuries. Otherwise see your doctor. Now that would be fine if you could get to see your doctor and he was competent enough to deal with it. In my case my doctor can't even get a speck of grit out of your eye! Have to go to A&E and wait 3 hours!

About time Fatist joing the other 'ist hate crimes ?

Whilst you can argue about why people get fat, and whther they should or should not be fat surely it is offensive to call people "fat" and pick on them because of their size/shape etc.? To me its just as bad as the othe rhate crimes.
To me any form of Bullying is bad. Its not called for and is certainly not funny.

Why does the media seem to get away with it.

Jennifer Lawrence is gorgeous any way.

Winkleman borrows granmothers dress

Did you think Cuadia had borrowed her grandmother's red dress last week?

Awful. I can't bear to watch her - she's so excrutiating.

Please put JOHN BARROWMAN on instead. He's FUN

Dementia - living death!

So, the Government pledges to DOUBLE spending on Dementia by 2025. Big Deal!

Yes increased spending can only be good but doubling peanuts in 10 years is still peanuts.

WE have a crisis in Pensions, people a re living longer but what quality of life? What if you live to 80 but the last 5 years you were in a care home, bed bound and dribbling?

Surely money spent on curing dementia will actually save the country millions and let these people lead active  fulfilling lives INDEPENDENTLY?

Makes seems to me.

Suffering the Winkleman again

so we have to suffer Claudia Winkleman instead of loveley Brucie.

WHY?

She has no Charisma. How dare the BBC inflict  this on us. Their flagship programme and a dirge like Winkleman is top billing.

WHY?

Anyone would be better, even John Sargeant would be a better presenter. At least he tried to dance. What has Winkleman done?

Bring on John Barrowman. He's so good.

If you want John ON and Winkleman out go to my Facebook page.

Write to the BBC and tell them.

If you like Winkleman tell ME!

Morecambe and Wise

Watched the 2part programme on M&W. Although entertaining there wasn't much startlingly new.  It is sobering when watching now to realise that when Eric Morecambe died he was younger than me!

Winter Deaths are lower in Sweden despite they have much longer, colder winters

This Government needs proper energy Policy or we're doomed.
How come Sweden can tackle it?
Skimping on Nuclear is not the answer unless you want to risk another Chernobyl?
Too frightening to contemplate but Maybe west Cumbria is expendable?

Hunger is Back

I agree that in the 7th richest nation we should not have poverty and hunger but I look at Jack's petition and wonder why the biggest epidemic we are facing is Obesity!

Why are people so FAT? Walk down any street and you see FAT people. You see ads on TV for slimming and endless programmes about FOOD. No wonder we're Fat.

Why do they advertise Alcohol so glamorously - it makes you cool, you drive fast cars (drive and drink?) live the fast life with pretty girls and flash friends all drinking, (responsibly of course). How dare they advertise Alcohol so? Its should be banned.

Anyway back to poverty - why are we giving millions to other countries that can afford to send satellites into space when we have poor here and we are ,cutting benefits because the "country can't afford them?". Another of sCameron's conspiracies?

Yes - nearly 3000 Millionaire Bankers on their bloated bonuses!

HA! they don't live in the real world, a bit of poverty would do them good. After all WE rescued the Banks and its our money. Another case of this reverse Robin Hood Government - robbing the poor to give to the rich.

Claudia looks like escapee from martial arts class

Suffering Claudia again. Looked like a poor version on Cannon and Ball. Claudia needs a tache tp help. Then they'd be real comedy double act. No  way can she stand in for Brucie next week its an insult.   We need some real talent not a joke. Bring in John Barrowman.

Energy tax is robbing poor to pay the RICH

Is anyone going to Challenge this Government on why they TAX a basic essential at 5% VAT plus the Green Tax?
Everyone pays these taxes even the unemployed, those on benefits and pensioners plus Bankers and the very rich. IS THAT FAIR?
NO I say.

Wind Farm operators get  double the current wholesale price for electricity - paid for out of Green taxes.

RWE NOT building Windfarm - Against Asserby Windfarm

Hoorah! Perhaps this is the beginning of the End? Maybe when the Government understands the public anger against a policy of taxing the poor to pay the Rich (Energy Companies) is morally and ethically wrong, they'll adjust the phenomenal payments they give for Green Energy making it nonviable merely as a profit making exercise?

Sex on-line?

Where will it end? I despair. Have you seen Logan's Run? What next, they have info on you and your location, next they'll be comparing DNA for a good Mate! An App to match your genetic code on the iPhone?

Producing the right offspring - or not. Seems REAL relationships are dead. Its the children I feel sorry for.

Everything is so false these days?

Hurrah Rebecca Adlington

I have nothing but admiration for Rebecca. My only criticism is why should she be daft enough to go on Celebrity Jungle?

Having said that no one can criticise her she is a GOD! A very small number of people like her are Superhuman, yes not a Supermodel but actually a SUPER ROLE model.

Anyone who gets up 7 days a week at silly times to train in a pool then wins medals for her country at the pinnacle Olympic games is definitely so high up in achievement she must be Superhuman and thus a GOD!

Anyone less than that CANNOT criticise her. You should ALL be ashamed and banished to the black hole!

I am not linking to eother Celebrity or any news articles as they do not need more oxygen, they are themselves ridiculous!

agains Asserby Windfarm - new law for locals

New Pickles law means we get a say in the planning of new windfarms. This law starts next month so I hope it applies to EnergieKontor's application forAsserby? It hasn't gone to planning yet.

Winkleman out - Barrowman in!

I suppose we'll have to endure Winkleman tonight? Look at what the awful woman does to her kids. Even she can't watch herself and won't let her kids watch Strictly! (Well not her show).

I say  do a John Sargeant Cluadia and bow out of Stricly. Vote youself off and lets have John Barrowman for Sunday Nights, and Brucies stand in. He's brilliant.

Don't waste Helium

Don't waste Helium on fun balloons.

WE CAN LOSE IT ALL FOREVER!

Library closures

Lincolnshire library closures. So be it. I wouldn't volunteerie to see someone lose their job. Will the councillor's volunteer for nothing to be on the council?
What did we fight WWII for? The Nazis  were burning books that were not appropriate. Will lincs CC do similar when they close the Libraries ?

Strictly - Dave out

So Dave's out. Like hime my favourite but he can't dance. Claudia escaped from the asylim again. wearing her gown.
John Barrowman is my choice.

How dare they? Energy companies profit from your money

Have you ever wondered if you could get millions of people to lend you £100 for nowt. Then you'd put it in a building society account and collect the interest? Million in interest.

Well I suppose this is what the energy companies do.

You pay £x a month your bill but when you're in credit and there must be millions in their bank accounts surely they can sit on it an collect millions in interest?

DO we get any "credit" for it - no.

All they do is put their prices up by 10% plus! No one else would get away with it but what can you do, you've got to have electricity and gas? Well you could switch, try Quidco.

Not Clueless Claudia again

Yes again the BBC dumb down again with clueless Claudia. No  Bruce. Why not bring in John Barrowman? He was brilliant on Take 2. He actually knows about dancing .

Pay Day lenders OK

I think PayDay lenders are providing a service. Providing they make their Ts&Cs o-pen and up front surely you are entitiled to use your own judgement and use them or not.

Preferably why not use a Credit card or simply don't spend what you haven't got!

Cut down on things but the unexpected happens.

Credit Unions are a better alternative.

Anyone remeber the "Pru"?

Ther will always be the vulnerable and easily led but then the Loan Sharks could get them anyway.

Yes it need tight regulation but not banning.

Claudia dresses DOWN for Strictly

So, Halloween night on Strictly and Claudia manages to dress down for Halloween night. Nobody noticed!
Sad to see Rachel go. There were at least 3 other dead certs who should have been in the dance off. Abbey's dance was divine. Why don't the public like her?

Monday, 28 October 2013

I predicted the Internet!

Now that should have been me. Back in the '80s when I worked for Visionhire I predicted that folk would just want cable TV they would have access to TV/films and all sorts of information via their telephone wires!

I should be as rich as Suranga Chandratillake!

Saturday, 26 October 2013

Dave's dance was either Bob Hope Road to Strictly with Dorothy Lamour or Eric Morecambe!
My vote was for Abbey - why no standing ovation?

No to Asserby - more evidence to Damn Windmills

Read this - look at the Graphic describing just how Futile Windmills are (sorry Windturbines). Don Quixote would be proud.
To get the same output of the Hinkley B on its 430acre site they would have to cover upto HALF a MILLION acres with Turbines. Also they'd pay them more than Hinkley for the priveledge of generating (or not) since wind isn't 24x7 output.

CRAZY

Takes up less space: Nuclear energy requires a considerably smaller land area than other types of energy (Source: DECC)

Hooray for New Nuclear Power Station at Hinkley Point - No to Asserby Windfarm

I'm against Windfarms and Nuclear but in this case I think we've got a good deal for the New Hinkley point Power station from EDF and the Chinese.

Forget for now my anti- Nuclear stance for another day. In this case I think the £92.50 per Megawatt hour they will get. Remember this is not until 2023. Quite probably the price of electricity will have doubled by then. the wholesale price is£50 per MWH right now. It has doubled in the last 10 years and this power station is about 10years late due to the last Governments dithering and the Dash-for-gas - which is why we're in a pickle now.

WE NEED THE POWER.

IT WILL ONLY GIVE US 7% (Less than a tenth what we need). What else will they build?

Compared to Wind Energy which is unreliable at least this will give us a reliable decent chunk.

Don;t forget that £92.50 per MWH

WINDFARMS already get £100 per MWH and £155 per MWH if they're at sea. This payment is index linked until 2037. No wonder all these wind turbines are going up. Its not to power Britain just to make the Landowners very rich.

Who's complaining about that?

Not to forget that Windfarms get paid for NOT Generating electricity - now what about that!

Who's is complaining that they get over £200 per MWH when NOT generating electricity. these are known as Constraint payments and are perfectly legal under current (daft) rules.

Windfarms get the wholesale price for selling their electricity plus 1 ROC on land, 2 ROCs at sea.

When the Grid doesn't want their electricity, for example when its WINDY and WARM in summer they CHARGE compensation to the GRID but can get £220 per MWH.

Is this not JUST PLAIN STUPID?

Complain to Dave about this. Tell him to cut the ROCS and build proper power stations. Or does he just like to be plain sCameron?

We're not fooled.

Claudia Winkleman - NO! rather watch a SLug!

I normally respect Amanda Platell's  opinions but this is just wrong. How on earth can she think Claudia Winkleman is any good at all?

She has the charisma of Mr Dead and her dress sense, who died?

What she says never makes sense - just about any other presenter would be preferable except perhaps Jonathan Ross!

Tess is a lovely girl and brings fun and style to the show. Sir Bruce is par excellance.

There she was again - wearing a Sack this weekend. Has she got a medical problem? She makes funny noises - oh I think its supposed to be merry banter!

British Gas rise

No surprise BG put up prices just 10+% is a bit steep . The rest Will follow . What do we do? People Will revolt . It Will take a while but when it bites? Riots? Its the government's fault. There's been no sensible policy for years. Dash for gas, no nuclear ~ now no gas, coal shutting down. if like France we had solid cheap nuclear now the prices would be stable. For now they could help by cutting VAT. Why tax the poorest ?

Privatise the BBC

Why doe we run a publicly funded Entertainment Empire called the BBC?

The Government have just privatised the Royal Mail for £3.3.billion - what would the BBC be worth?

WE don't pay SKY anything, you're free to subscribe or not. Buy a newspaper or not, go to the Pub or not, smoke or not, its your choice your money but why does every household in the UK have to pay.

The TV Licence is £145.50

Roughly if there are 24million households in Britain and they all buy a licence (watch TV) that's an incredible £3.5billion pounds a year. Just about what the Government got for the Royal Mail. SO sell it off and give us all shares in it. No more TV Licence - let them make money like Sky and BT etc.

That's and end to wrangling in the Houses of Parliament of who got paid what etc.

No one is elected to run the BBC. I pay £120 a year to my local council in Council Tax - for this they empty my bins every week and more - that on its own is good value. What if all the council employees left all their lights and computers on 24 x 7 you'd be angry? YES! Yet the BBC every day I see the news and behind there is a room full on top notch computers and screens all left on with no one working there. The lights are blazing too - no dim withs there! Yet yes the BBC is just like your council WE ARE PAYING the bills! SCANDALOUS. but do They care - no because they're accountable to no one. If it was private it would be different the Board would insist that all teams were accounted for their costs or they'd be out.

I believe in Public Service Broadcasting but not at £3 billion. Some of the Overseas aid budget could be diverted into this perhaps.

They need to do something for the unfortunate folk who either won't or can't get on broadband, education by the BBC that could be paid out of the education budget.

Surely in the 21st Century, especially in a financial crisis, when we're cutting Benefits,  we shouldn't be paying for Entertainment on our taxes?

Or maybe I'm wrong and its Opium for the masses? We don't want riots in the streets, let folk stay at home and watch Eastenders/ Coronations Street or X factor (oh dear the BBC doesn't do 2 out of 3 of those).

WindFarm Anger - Andrew Marr show - Ed Davey is WRONG!

Just had the biggest LIE from Ed Davey on the Andrew Marr show.

He said "Windfarms only get paid when they generate electricity".

This is a LIE.

Constraint payments pay them for NOT generating electricity. We pay the greedy windfarm owners even more to NOT generate electricity.

Is this right?

Also because the infrastructure is not there yes they get paid for generating electricity but then it isn't used by the Grid. So what use is that?

Sorry Andrew - get him back and put him right.

Thursday, 10 October 2013

Energy Price Hike - what should Dave do?

Now we are being hit, just when the winter begins. Last winter was bad enough I guess our bills went up by around 15% because of the cold.

On my bill there is approximately 15% that is Tax. 5% is VAT the rest is the Social Payment! That is what they pay to the Windfarm Gold Miners.

OBSCENE. Pensioners and people on beneits are Taxed to make greedy landowners ever RICHER. Robbing the poor to make the rich richer,

Have I mentioned the MILLIONS that the Windfarm owners GENERATE in income?

LOOK

4 x Turbines producing 10MWh

Even at 30% efficiency over 25 years they GENERATE
£61 million!!

Not to mention if they're in the wrong place and can't export their power the owners get even MORE in CONSTRAINT payments.

Appallingly obscene.

WE'RE Paying for this. Write to your MP to get it stopped.

Help to Buy?

The Government are "helping people" to buy by getting the banks & Building Societies to lend upto 95%
that's how it used to be, so what's changed?
Basically they make money from lending out money but since the Crash the Government have bailed them out so they don't need to lend money plus they daren't take the risk. Remember If you put 5k down and borrow 95k and you can't keep up the payments,  (rates Will go up!), then the BSoc has to sell your house to get the 95k back 0 what if they can't? YOU still owe the money. If say they only get 80k for the house the Government now gives them the 15k you can't pay so they can't lose.

In the old days banks & Building Societies used to guarantee the 15k by taking out an insurance policy, built into the fees. They can't get these policies now - everyone is scared prices aren't going up. After these few years of stagnation and no building - no ones buying (they have no money/jobs) no price rises to stimulate the market no wonder ! If this scheme stimulates some house price inflation its a small price to pay to kick start the market then building will start and the ball will be rolling a bit like the old days.
Houses are still way too expensive.

The last boom was cause by greed. Folk thought they could make money by buying a house. It never really works like that - you have to live somewhere.

My first house cost £7500, I put a £500 deposit down. Those were the days (3 times my income).

Lottery - half a chance

Lottery . At a stroke they've halved everybody's chances. What annoyed me is i don't gamble but do lottery online. I updated my filter that the isp provides after all the publicity about porn. I don't want to go to dodgy sites accidentally . Then later found the lottery was blocked . I had to unlock gambling. This seems wrong somehow. I want all the other gambling blocked just access to the lottery .

Bruce poorly - not Winkleman !

Please no. With sir Bruce poorly Claudia Winkleman is to take over. Ugh, please no. Anyone else or no one.  She knows as much about dancing as a slug and is as entertaining as one too. If she came on wearing a bin liner it would be an improvement.
Surely Tess could manage on her own or get one of the dancers in. Chris hollins. Please. she'll lose viewers .

Lottery Scam - £2 ticket actually HALVES you chances

Yes they have increased the winnings, actually by only 60p! but its peanuts in realty. Its all to do with probability which no one has explained so here’s  a quick lesson.
Throw a dice – you have a 1/6th chance of getting a 6
If you 2 6s in a row its not 2/6 its actually 1/36!
Why? You have one chance of a 6followed by a 6 as opposed to all the other combinations 1+1 1+2, etc.
So lets say you spend £10 a week on lottery tickets. That makes 10 tickets previously, 10 chances of winning the jackpot. Now you £10 only gets you 5 tickets so you have HALF as many chances of winning SEE? The odds of winning haven’t changed.
Prize increased from £10 to £25 = 60p rise. Why?
Lets say
Previously you had 10 tickets, 10/40 000000 (10 in 40million)
Now you have 5 tickets 5/40000000 (5 in 40million)
So prize £10 x 10/40 000000 versus  £25  x 5/40 000000
Quick arithmetic
Chance of winning £10 = ¼ – versus £25 1/8
¼ of 10 = £2.50
!/8 of 25 = £3.12
Increase a mere 62p – thank you national Lottery.

Make the Unemployed do something

2 things here.

  1. Why make folk forever - till they drop - when there are folk (younger) who need jobs?
  2. People can't be beaten in to getting jobs.
If the long term unemployed genuinely can't get jobs look into why?

  1. Help older folk retire and give their job to the unemployed
  2. Maybe they need training/educating?

We are told often enough that there is a shortage of skilled people so TRAIN them.

It starts in schools  - too many young folk end up as NEETS. We need to stop this else we end up funding them in a life on the dole.

Set up some training for them. I remember years ago I was unemployed and got on a Manpower Services 30 week course, got paid a reasonable allowance and expenses and trained in Computer Programming. Started a new career and still doing it.

It can be set up with Companies, they train you, they help you look for a job.

I certainly don't agree with a "life on the dole", but more carrots (with strings).

Maybe the MPs could do with more "helpers" - that would save money then they wouldn't have to"employ" their families!

CO2 killing the planet?

Great idea to contain the CO2 but why can't they pipe it into greenhouses and boost plant growth. Using solar power the plants convert CO2 back to starch and grow.

Marriage tax break at last

Hoorah David Cameron has at last conceded to give the promised tax break for married couples. But you'll not get it until tax year 2015/16. In time for the election ?
Maybe he thinks he needs a few more votes.
Good though and why shouldn't the government favour marriage, a contract has to mean something . Otherwise why bother ?

Where are the Heads-Up displays?

Given how Long fighter pilots and F1 drivers have had Heads-UP displays I wonder why they are not standard in today's cars?

Look here "fantastic they are putting them in for Motorcyclists in their Helmets"

I would have thought instead of old-fashioned dashboard dials etc the important stuff - like SPEED should be on the heads-Up display.

Makes sense?

Besides I've no objection to an "intelligent " car telling me I'm going over the speed limit. I don't want to speed. Today with the Sat-Navs and GPS - they put them in your Mobile phones I think it should be compulsory for all speed limits to be "mapped" and beamed down to sour smart cars so where ever you are they know the speed on the road where you are, the car knows the limit and how fast you are driving and either warns you when you are say 5mph of the Max or warns yo when you've gone over a\nd won't in fact let you exceed it by more Than 5mph.

I'm all for this. I hate it when an unfamiliar road is poorly marked with the limit/ I err on  safe side. I was near Whitehaven and although a dual carriage way the lamp post were very close, I believe the Highway Code tells you this indicates a 30mph! after a long way and being severely overtaken I at last saw 1 small repeater saying 50mph. Shame on them. The locals knew of course. Then there's a short 2 mile stretch - no central carrier with National Speed limit - outrageous.

Rant over.

No 2 asserby Windfarm and Turbines everywhere, except for m

Are you happy to pay your £34 to make the Turbine builders Millionaires?
What have I said before, don't forget that of your typical annual bill of £1300 5% is VAT, or £65 so the Government keeps getting a bigger share of the profits as well as prices keep rising.

Mr Milliband is thinking right, but what he should do is remove VAT on the first £1000 of your bill. Its the poorest who are trying to save money by cutting back who pay the most. Tariffs for prepayment are the highest and often these folk are on benefits or fixed incomes. They cut back to save but still pay tax to keep warm when they pay no Tax on their income - come on Mr Milliband do the Labour thing.

Yet - I can't have a Domestic Turbine in my garden Planning Permission won't allow!

EDF and the rest of the Energy Dimwits

At last Monday EDF came to swap my meter. Granted they were 2 hours after the agreed time but they did call to arrange to be late (nice of them). Yesterday TUESDAY I got a text message informing me that the engineer would be calling to change my meter.....when?.....Monday 23rd!
Thanks EDF.

You see I switched to EDF for a cheaper deal but then they said I had to have Economy 7 because I had a dual rate meter! No argument. I have NO storage heaters etc, never have.
"Why can't you just add the 2 figures together (night+day) EOn did.?"
"No we can't you'll have to have your meter swapped.Well do it free"
"Fine - go ahead"
So he came and took a perfectly good digital meter out and replaced it with a second hand digital but "wheels" single rate meter.

Crazy. So many other Energy companies can't add 2 numbers together. Its funny though they rake in vast sums and make huge profits. So they must have some people who can manipulate the figures. Always in their favour!!

nurses from Spain and Portugal

why does NHS lincolnshire have to go abroad for 40 nurses ? don't we train nurses here any more? Surely there are loads of youngsters who would like to nurse. maybe its because now its got to be a Degree or nothing . why not set up apprenticeships so they can learn on the job and go as far as they want?

Fat Blocks the sewer

I have never understood why the Council tells you to "wash your food containers before placing in the recycling bin".

I'm not going to,

a) it wastes water and I'm on a water meter
b) Anglian Water tell you NOT to put food waste down the drains!

See this story, all the waste washed down the drains eventually can block the drains. So who do you obey?

The Water Company - not the council i say.

CT Scan of your abdomen. What they don't tell you.

What they don't tell you.

Day before - an appointment to "test" you.

Light breakfast, poached egg and /or white toast.

At the hospital, 30ml of Gastrografin is swallowed(tastes like petrol).

They observe you for 20mins to see if you feel OK. If Ok then you can go.

Taking home the Laxative.

At home take the laxative - Picolax - in a tumbler of warm water. Choose a large glass, half fill warm water and mix in the powder, stirring. It will fizz like "Andrews". Keep stirring to dissolve as much as possible. When cooled drink. Tastes vaguely like "off lemonade".

It worked quick for me only 10mins later I was going to the toilet. Diahorrea. This goes on regularly till bedtime, and is unpleasant. Wet bum, getting sore, smelly mess in toilet - warn relatives.

Light lunch and then take next Gastrografin (30ml).

3:30-4pm take next Picolax,

5pm - take next Gastrografin (30ml).

Next morning, breakfast, poached egg and /or white toast.

At hospital before scan, last chance to empty bowels.
Then take ALL my clothes off, put gown on. Clothes etc in a bag. (they could let me keep my socks on or have some disposable slippers, who know what's been on the floor), although it did look clean.
Nurse inserts cannula into arm, like a "blood test" but stays in.

Then for scan, if a Bowel scan, they want to insert a tube up your bottom, which pumps air in slowly. just relax.
Through the cannula they inject Buscopan, a drug that paralyzes your bowel so it doesn't move. It just feels warm going in and may cause blurred vision.
They may need to inject dye this goes in and makes you warm, may feel like you're going to wet yourself but nothing happens, and a metallic taste in the mouth. Just relax.

When they're ready you lie on the bed which then moves through the scanner. In my case a disembodied voice spoke to me. No one pre-warned me and I could hardly make out what it said, a bit like a bad Sat Nav. I guessed more or less what it was.

"take 2 deep breaths"
"hold your breath for 5  seconds. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. " While you're propelled through the scanner.
"Breathe normally"

Don't worry stay relaxed and listen.

This repeated 3 times. On the 3rd time the machine started to spin wildly, like something from Stargate SG1. Then the nurses can out.

They wanted me to turn over. On my Front now, hands above my head. Watch the Cannula, now back through the doughnut.
Disembodied sat-Nav voice again.

"take 2 deep breaths"
"hold your breath for 5  seconds. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. "
"Breathe normally"

All over.

I had my air tube removed. Then I could go In to a toilet and get dressed. "Empty your bowels of the air" nurse said.
Tried but nothing happened. I think it was because the Buscopan, had paralysed everything inside. Anyway I felt OK. The nurse then took the cannula out, and put a plaster over the hole. I was given a cup of tea and a biscuit (three actually). I was shown to the waiting area where I was reunited with my wife.
After  20mins I had drunk the tea, felt fine and could leave. You're advised not to drive for 2 hours afterwards as you may be affected with blurred vision.

My wife drove me home. Great, I could have nice meal. Eventually the air did work its way out. Worst thing was the cannula, where it had been was sore and my arm bruised.

Kent Crossing Pile up - BAD drivers

Its not the FOG that made them crash its BAD driving.

Drive as fast as the distance you can see to stop! Lesson - if you drive into thick fog HOW do you know there isn't stationary traffice just ahead? Can you stop if there is - patently 130 people didn't know and were going too fast. Serves thenm right except for those who did stop and got whacked up the *rse!

What about these STEALTH drivers? THick fog the other morning 1:3 drivers no lights.

If you don't have headlights on then you're as visible in the fog as a brick wall except yopu are moving. If someone hits you or pulls out if front or a pedestrian crosses in front then its YOUR fault - idiot.

moral breakdown in society

i blame the breakdown in society's moral values and kids horrid behaviour on the lack of families sitting down together for an evening meal and NOT having the TV on! Talking is what is needed.

My 3yr old Granddaughter eats beautifully at table with knife and fork. She's been doing it (eating at table) since she was born. Teach them your good habits straight away and they accept it.

Fish recipe

try this recipe - we are

No to Asserby Wind Farm and Farms everywhere

Look at the Government statistics for your area.

Not about wind farms but look at the stats for your area. This part of Lincolnshire (on the coast) is very below average for the country. The demographic profile is for older people and their problems (health etc). IF the Government is pouring milllions into the area - THE MONEY GOING TO THE TURBINE OPERATORS - why don't they do the MORAL thing and spread it around the area for the benefit of the residents and not just the few FAT CATS who are just getting FATTER! It s the reverse ROBIN HOOD syndrome - rob the poor togive to the rich! Just to appease the Bureaucrats in Brussels.

Building Societies feeling the pinch too?

I am so sorry for them, apparently the Building Societies are feeling the pinch too!

Don't you feel sorry for them? Mortgage rates at theri lowest ever and yet House sales are flat
 - I wonder why.

What did I say a few weeks ago? THis article in Money Mail, explains everything I was saying.

I remember when Mortgage rate got to 15%! WE don't want that but stable (and low) bank rate is bad for Building Societies. They make their most "profits" on a steadily falling interest rate. They reduce the rate paid to savers immediately but fail to pass on the benefit of lower rates to borrowers for a month. Thus they gain from the borrowers with a bigger margin. If the housing market was steadily risingthen Buildinng Societies would feel safer lening closer to 100% LTV thus giving buyers a better chance to move up the market with smaller deposits required. Its not really the low interets rates that is the problem, great for borrowers so why is the Housing market flat? No confidence that prices will rise, and reluctance of the lenders to take a "risk" lending money.

Yes jolly old HMG can GIVE money (our money), to Private banks, (run for the profit of the Shareholders), who then go off and take massive bonuses and stop lending out to you and me, and promptly slash interest rates paid to us ggod folk who scrimp and save for our retirement (keeping this country afloat!).

So thanks Mr G.  Brown. I thought Labour were the party for the "Working man?" - silly me!

Asserby Wind Farm? Lose £100k off your house value!

Hooray! Another nail in the Coffin of WindFarms. Wind Farms lower house prices!!
WEll maybe this will make the good folks around Asserby wake up! If they are to lose £100k off the value of their house - while the WindFarm makes the Generators rake millions in! Also at last George os Borne "Conspiracy" - says he'll cut the subsidies - OUR MONEY.
The industry was recently dealt a blow by Chancellor George Osborne, who demanded huge cuts in government aid for wind farms.
The Chancellor told the Treasury to draw up plans for a reduction of 25 per cent in subsidies for onshore wind farms.

Next lets have NO VAT on Energy for Domestic use and cut the GREEN TAX.

Also what about the loss of 100 jobs in Skegness? Offically the most deprived seaside town?

A sweet factory is to close with the loss of all jobs - they can move to Leiceter or Czchekoslovakia - nice.

Will they find 100 jobs in skeggy?

Perhaps if they want to work in an arcade for the summer or a hotel cleaning rooms.

WHat about some of this windFarm money coming to Skeg? There are hundreds off the coast and hundreds morte to be built and dozens planned for the Land.

Who gets the Millions from them - NOT SKEGGY!

RWE will get £36billion over 25 years for their off-shore farm - why can't 10% go to Skeg and ELDC for using our land?

Spend it while you can.

No hope for the thrifty.

As I said before used to be you saved up and lived within your means. Not now.

With inflation at 2.8% and savings rates at less then 2% before tax you're losing money fast.

Spend it now before you can't afford the things you want. Or live on borrowed money while its cheap. I think every body is doing but isn't that why we're in this mess?

sCameron and the Osborne Conspiracy don't get it. They are RICH after all and in with the Bankers.

WindFarms - Government seeing the Scam?

Yes some chink of light from the Government - even though they themselves can't agree, that Wind Farms are divisive. Some landowners get RICH - yes Generating Money). Now Owen Paterson seems to be on the sensible side.
see my evidence below.
Quote "But the Conservative Environment Secretary Owen Paterson says some people consider wind farms a complete scam - and the prime minister recently said he didn't expect many more wind farms in the British countryside."

The infrastructure isn't there, its like open cast mining but above ground taking away our countryside forever! Balcombe type protests would appear.

Lets keep up the message to them - Wind Energy is wasting loads of OUR money.

Government is hurting the Thrify who voted for them

Yes if you have any savings spend it before its worthless. Just like Germany in the 30s. We'll need suitcases of money to shop at the supermarket.

Seriously with low interest rates even low inflation - but that is higher than interest  - is eroding your nest egg.

I thought that the idea was that Banks/Building societies raised funds from Savers by offering them interest.

When they had the funds then they lent it out to Borrowers (mortgages etc.), they pay interest.

So providing you,  (Bank/Building Society),  receive more in interest than you pay out you are profitable.

Now we have another situation the Banks (Building Societies?) get “free” money from the Government to Lend out thus they don’t need savers money. But where does the Government get its money from? I guess us? SO actually this is a win win for the banks they’ve nothing to lose hence the Fat bonuses.

It’s about time the government was told by US that they must stop and go back to the old system. If interest rates were raised then Savers would save and the money would be there to lend out. Remember the interest paid is TAXED so the government gets a cut too.

End of the Road for the Middle Lane Hoggers

YES FRIDAY IS THE LAST DAY TO HOG THE MIDDLE LANE AND GET AWAY WITH IT!

At least it will be if we ever see any police patrols on the Motorways. Where are they?

I don't see them. That's why folk use Mobile phones - at least here in rural Lincolnshire you're chance of being caught is NIL. No Police see.

I'd love to see the Rules enforced - ALL of THEM. But they won't be. So why worry. They need Cameras to catch you via your number plate. Maybe they'll use an App that can track your movements in real time via your mobile phone GPS signal SOMEDAY then they can see if you're speeding as well. These Law Breakers can kill people.

Remember Big Brother Can Watch you!!

It could happen.

What did I say - look Rubbish bins secretly setup to scan your phone. they track where you are. They say its anonymous but really if its linked back to a database they can link to you via your phone's IMEI code etc.

BIG BROTHER

No to Wind Farms

I'm still saying it - please tell your MP we don't want our Hard Earned Cash going to make the Power Companies even fatter. They can't lose. When the prices go up they only make 5% profit - boo hoo! I am sorry. Some business cannot make ANY profit!!

We all bailed out the Banks and they still get their salaries and FAT bonuses. Why should the power companies get FAT. I mean why pay the Wind Farm operators to NOT generate electricity - they can't lose either. They get  3 times the rate for a Megawatt of power for NOT Generating -

IS THIS MAD OR WHAT?

So not the Daily Mail has seen the madness of Constraint payments and is showing what a rip off Wind Farms are.Now there is another Money Generating Scheme - Forward Trades.

Lets stop it.

When a typical energy bill is £1300 per annum and over £200 is Tax that makes nearly 20% tax you and I pay. Is this fair on the poorest and those on fixed incomes when those companies can afford to build multi million pound wind Farms to generate Multi Millions of money!

Free Electricity from British Gas?

Absolutely ridiculous - "Free Elctricity at weekends".

Are we saving the planet or not?

You know what will happen - folk will blast it at the weekend wthout a care. All this energy comes from somewhere. BG hope you'll forget and continue to have the thermostat up in the week. More profit for them.

Yes SUPPLY=DEMAND - laws of Physics. So huge power stations like Drax (Coal fired) and the Nuclear ones have to run 24x7 they can't switch on and off. Its the BASE load. But we go to bed at night and switch off. We all put the kettle on at half time in the World Cup etc. Solar power is only during the day (light), wind power only works when its windy. So what do the suppliers do - they match the peaks and troughs with Gas powered stations that can go on and off quickly but they are expensive and Gas is not so plentiful.

Unless we get Fracking!

It won't work. We need to conserve energy. What next - only allowed to wash at weekends. Only allowed to boil the kettle when its Windy?

What they need to do is sort out the Grid infrastructure so the power can get to where it is needed. Windmills in the Sea need big cables to get the power to the Cities. We must STOP the Constraint payments. Paying the Companies NOT to Generate - that's what its about. They get 3 times as much NOT generating than when they do. If we didn't have the GREEN subsidy on our bills then there's be no Wind Turbines 'cos they don't make economic sense. Then ALL our bills would be cheaper.

GAY marriage now LAW

This didn't get much publicity - the actual Gay Marriage Royal Assent. Now its Law. Maybe HMG will get on with serious stuff like saving the economy - ohh I forgot they've all gone on holiday till October - worse than teachers!!

Lioncolnshire closing Libraries

So Lincolnshire is to close many Libraries to save money. People cry "No!"

But really who uses the Libraries any more? They are very poor have you been to one lately?

Sutton on -sea or Mablethorpe - where are all the books.

Mostly you have to order books that don't even come to Sutton - you have to go to Skegness to get them.

Then the "Consultation" they had it in Louth - when most resident s are in Sutton/Trusthorpe etc.

How do you get to Louth for a consultation? No Late buses or use your car 30mile round trip, 1 hour travelling. They said it was to accommodate the numbers. What about the  Dunes or the Church halls they can get 60/70 in.

County Council not really trying as usual - a done deed I say. As usual Ignore the coastal communities, Lincoln's alright!

Anyway I agree. Close the Library - its not open when I can get as I work all week.

What I want is on-line if I want. Download from Amazon to my kindle etc.

Why can't the Libraries be a "Download service"? Books subsidised on a 1 month expiry time - they self destrct after 1 month - it can be done.

Doctors - missed appointments

Amanda Platell in the Daily Mail says that we should pay £25  per doctors appointmant to see the doctor as so many just miss appointments wasting docotrs time. I  agree its not on but since those not working would not have to pay and from my experience trying to get an appointment to see my doctor, my surgery cannot understand that you might WORK, hence you want to see the doctor at a mutually convenient time. I consider my time precious so would not miss my appointment. £25 is not relevant the majority who take the appointments would not be paying anyway so what is the incentive NOT to miss?

I say 3 strikes and you're out! Miss 3 appointments and you have to find another doctor. That may sort out these who miss their appointmnts, eh?

Don Quixote fought Windmills - we mus Fight the Monsters Wind Turbines.

Look I'd have a Wind Turbine in ~My Garden if I could afford the £1.5million to build one. After all its not about Electricity is reaping the rewards from the Government.

Its like winning the Lottery - you could live off the interest for life (well next 25 years).

Its a complete SHAM. Wind Turbines will never solve our Energy crisis or save the planet.

Facts - (see Godfrey Blooms paper on How to Fight Wind Farms)

((I might not agree with his politics but he's spot on with this)

Why aren't folk clamouring to stop the ROCs and the Constraint payments? Its worse than Bankers Bonuses or the Bedroom Tax.

Anyway,

1 x 2.6MW turbine at 30% efficiency will generate over £650000 in one year, or over 25 years £16m. Not to mention the price rises or constraint payments.

However, with regards to CO2

The government estimates that 9.2 million tons of carbon were saved by wind turbines in 2010. That sounds like a lot, but it represents just 0.03% of global emissions. The UK emits 2% of global emissions. Even if the UK emitted no carbon whatsoever, it would make no difference to climate change at all. Wind energy has virtually no chance of making a meaningful contribution to ‘saving the planet’.

Powering every home in the UK with wind farms of equivalent power as the Dun Law wind farm would require 1,788 wind farms and a total of 46,428 wind turbines. That’s one wind turbine every 5 square kilometres, across the entire UK.

What we need to do really is switch to energy saving devices, waste less, use LESS, travel LESS, Work From Home. Now STOP FRACKING. Yes its cheap energy but just creates more CO"=2 - do we really want to KILL our planet?

You decide.
