Lincolnshire NIMBYs

It seems that some folk in Lincolnshire are against housing development. Well given the vat areasofopen space in Lincolnshire I would have thought it ideal for development. If people move in here they bring with them(assuming they have work?), spending power an demand facilities like shops, schools, doctors, etc, etc. These facilities are sorely needed in the east of the county. Yes its  a peaceful wasteland for a few who live there. Look at the South East  of the country - demand is insatiable but where are the open spaces? Things need to move North to give us all a better life. Please lets share our county there's plenty of room for everyone.

11. Set up a different Time Zone
Under File, Options, Calendar you’ll find the option ‘Show a second time zone’ to display a second time zone so that you can keep track of what time it is back home, or see what time it is for your colleagues overseas, to ensure you catch them during office hours and don’t contact them at an inconvenient time of day. Click Swap Time Zones to easily switch from one location to the other.
12. Mark messages ‘read’ or ‘unread’

To mark a message as ‘read’ using the keyboard hold the Control key and tap the letter Q and Control and U to mark the message as ‘unread’.

Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue consultaion.

Lincolnshire Fire and rescue consultation

Get your response in by February 2015

Here is what I say.

I believe that revision of provision is best served by rapid response then based on assesment additional support pulled in as necessary. Not all fires/incidents need the full crew and fullsize tender. Why not provide smaller vehicles with basic equipment to attend small fires and incidents quickly say 2 crew. the standard Fire Engine and crew can be called in if necessary. Whilst I do not object to fire crews assisting with other emergencies when not involved otherwise I think this has a detrimental effect on fire crews. Facilities could/should be shared across the blue light services.

The Santander Clause - Register for alerts from your Bank Account - No not Santa Claus

The Santander Clause - register for alerts from your Bank Account - No not Santa Claus. Now the very nice Santander people have offered me to setup alerts to my Mobile or Email  on my account .
I can get a text message if my balance goes over or under a certain amount and a weekly update of balance and transactions. Could be useful and is FREE.

I wonder how many people actually read the terms and conditions, but just tick the box? I do READ them before i tick.

How many folk kn ow about this clause. The Santander Clause!!

Please note - (and I have done this anyway) - PROTECT YOUR PHONE WITH A PIN!

If you don't then Sanatander (and I guess other banks) will have a "get out" clause if anything goes wrong.

You have been warned.

The Old should get checked out.

So we old folk are expected to get the doctor to check out all our aches, pains and lumps as they may be serious, well yes IF you could get an appointment and like My doctor said to me after a Wait of 2 weeks to see him about one thing, went on to say "while I'm here doctor, can i mention...."
"Well if its quick, I don't have much time", he cut me off.

So that's it wait 2 weeks to see the doctor then limited to one item discussed per visit - when did these rules come in?

On 7/11/14 I rang Doctors to make an appt, made a Doctors appointment, earliest I could get was Mon 24th Nov
Having seen the Doctor he referred me for an X-ray and blood tests
X-ray at Louth is just walk-in. So I can go there ASAP 9-16:30 M-F
Blood test the earliest I can be seen for this is December 15th!

They said that they have a shortage of staff - its not just Doctors. Surely out of the East Lincs Trust there are other Doctors/surgeries. I accept that some people really need to be able to get to see their nearest doctor and traveling to Mablethorpe is difficult in its self. they can get a bus to Mabo but then its a liongwalk to the actual surgery on Stanley Avenue.

Personally i can go to Mablethorpe no bother if it means I get seen earlier or at a convenient time. It often seems that they don't understand that some people actually work! Most of their clients don't and can come anytime.

I suggest that East Lincs Trust try seeing what services ALL their GP practices can Pool and offer times for services at alternative practices - none of them are miles away. After all if you are referred to a hospital, as I was, in this case it was Louth which again is not easy to access if you don't drive but I've been for a scan and that was Grimsby! 30+ miles and over an hour away.

What is it with this "exclusiveness" of GPs? If I took ill whilst at my Son's in Cumbria I wouldn't expect them to say "go to your GP in Mablethorpe" would I. Hospitals serve the area so why not some collaboration between GPs?

I then went to see the "Nurse" for a blood test on Monday, 15th. No problem there and surprisingly I had an ECG. I wasn't expectiong that. then I asked "what about the results, what do I do, ring in a week?"
"No", she said "if you hear nothing all's OK. the doctor will let you know if he wants to see you."

Later that day I got a call the doctor wants to discuss your results, well he hadn't got the blood tests so is my ECG bad?

I rang for an appointment, Tuesday next week, another 8days to wait so surely it can't be urgent. All together remember I rang to make an appointment beginning of November but couldn't be seen for over 2 weeks and now its still ongoing over 2 months. They say get "checked out" , don't wait but no wonder folk go to A&E. if it is serious we've wasted 2 months when I could be getting treatment.

Bah.

Letter to Simon Heffer Daily Mail.

Hello Mr Heffer,

I have so say that I largely agree with your comments about the BBC, I do like it, but I have to point out that an organisation spending £3.7billion of Taxpayers money, completely on entertainment, not accountable to anyone is a scandal in the 21st Century.

I suggest that the Government should reform the BBC by privatising it. Save the £3.7billion and spend it on something worthwhile like the NHS.

For people like us, given today’s varied media , the Licence fee is an anachronism without comparison. People should be allowed the free choice to spend their money as they wish on entertainment if that is their choice.

I have mentioned that the BBC are losing sight or their reponsibilities with inappropiate content broadcast before the watershed. Parents should be able to trust the BBC, what does the BBC trust say to that? Again Amanda Platell agrees with me and good old Julie Walters does too.

Many people without earnings choose to spend their income in strange ways, in my opinion. On the one hand the Worlds Fattest man has just died. Where did he get his money to buy all that excessive food that killed him, surely he wasn’t working as was bedridden. We are told people are starving yet these same people will not give up their Sky TV, Broadband, or mobile phones.

Amada Platell reported that a family of four with one wage earner on the Minimum wage gets a total income of £25k! I do not earn that yet my wife and I live on less than that and pay our income tax, NI, Pension, Council Tax and TV Licence. Our Choice. I would love to earn £25k but would need a salary of around £30k before I took that home.

My answer to inflated benefits – TAX IT! It is after all income. We all have our personal tax allowance designed to ensure we can earn a fair amount before paying tax, so why do these people qualify for so much tax free handouts? It just doesn’t makes sense.

Perhaps we should go back to the 1930’s at least then the poor people knew exactly what they needed to do to survive. No handouts for them. They had to make ends meet. It’s about time we ALL understood that in 21st Century Britain. Labour won’t cure the situation didn’t they get us into it in the first place?

Worlds Fattest Man has died

So the Worlds Fattest Man has died after he tried to lose weight.

After weighing 70 stone he tried to lose weight. He had not been out of his house for 10 years.

He had six-egg fry-ups for breakfast then pizzas, kebabs, Chinese takeaways and Big Macs for lunch and dinner, all washed down with six pints of coffee and two litres of fizzy drinks.

What I don't understand is when these people get this fat where do they get the food from, who cooks it etc etc.?

So someone must be buying it and feeding them. In this case his sisters are suspects.

If he was a child then making fat like this would be "cruelty" and they would be prosecuted and the child taken into care.

Is there no way we can stop these sort of people from abusing and killing another human being? They killed him by overfeeding him.

If he had to feed himself then he's struggle to get the food, cook it and eat it on his own. He's soon lose weight. Besides how did he afford all this food? What was his income? He didn't work did he? Was he registered disabled? SO what was the authorities responsibility in this? He was drug addict, his drug was food. How dare the professionals no doubt involved in this allow this to happen? Surely when he got to 20stone they should have acted but it went on, he gained another 30 stone.

I despair.

Yet apparently so many folk are starving and dependent on Food banks because they can't afford to eat.

I know of poor people who don't cook. they survive on takeaways and ready meals. The Microwave cooks for them. Surely this way must be so expensive? After the last war we were in rationing - there were no Fat people then and we were much healthier - just! On the brink of starvation but people knew how to eek out food, cook sensibly and reduce waste.

Frankly we must just be too rich here in this country or we wouldn't waste so much or get fat.

What does your Councillor do for you?

I have written to my Local Councillor many times this last year and spoken to her on the telephone but I am yet to have a reply?

This is common decency - what do you think?

Should your Councillor reply to you?

I have contacted her over local issues and one query but no answer.

What should I do next i have spoken to the Leader of the Independents - she is one - and he says that he has asked her to speak to me/write - NOTHING

They get paid public money to be Councillors - I am disgusted but what can be done?

Ched Evans Rape conviction - should he play Football?

Still going on about Ched Evans I see,

I'll re-iterate what I said about a month ago, its about time the FA decided its "rules" on ex-offenders, these things should not be decided by Mass Mob Hystreria or Social Media. That's why we have LAWS.

Ched Evans Rape conviction - should he be allowed to return to Football?

Its down to the FA i say.

Reasons, we have laws in this country for a reason. There are rules around dealing with rehabilitaion of ex-offenders, for example it depends on

  • type of offence
  • length of sentence.
I believe that if your sentence is less than 2.5 years then after 10 years it can be considered "spent" - ie that means that you don't have to tell anyone about it - you get a fresh start.

So, Ched was sentenced to 5 years so it can never be "spent".

Next if its a sexual offence, as his was, you have to on the Sex offenders register for life. So with for example Teachers they can never teach again or work with children if it was a "sex" offence. MPs can't be Mp's if their offence was more than 1 year sentence and so it goes on.

I say, in my opinion it is up to the FA to decide how they deal with ex-offenders. They need to set down their rules.

Nothing stopping Ched being a Lorry Driver.

Unemployed now will have to wait 5 weeks before benefits!

Unemployed now will have to wait 5 weeks before benefits! Now I said I agreed with Amanda Platell that it was ridiculous that a family of four with one earner could get £25k in wages plus benefits if they were on minimum wages.

Now I don't earn that GROSS for my wife and myself.

Our choice.

Where is the promised Married Person's allowance?

Now if I lose my job after 40years of paying taxes and National Insurance - I EXPECT the Insurance bit to kick in - haven't I earned it?

I agree Benefits should not be an open cheque but a safety net. But what about fairness?

TAX BENEFITS

Claudia back on Strictly - fast forward her bits

Usually we record Strictly to be sure we don't miss it. this has the advantage that I can fast-forward thought the Claudia bits.

That woman makes me cringe.

Why does Amanda Platell think she's good? I want to Vote Claudia Off. Zoe and Tess for me.

Claudia embarrasses herself with her inane antics. Does she thinks she's a Bobby Ball to Tess' Canon?
Either its the BBC humiliating her or if not then I'm right and we can do with out her - its spoiling the show.

But why is it only me that sees this?

Only thing about Tess is that she seems to be talking over the Judges lately. Oh, and I don't really like the additional dancers either, we want to see the Celebrities dance!

Also AP says about Obese people paying for their treatment. Similar to smoking it IS self induced.

EAT LESS! Simple.

I don't understand how these FAT people that are that fat that they can't move about continue to overeat? Surely someone is Feeding them? If you can't move much/at all  how do you shop/cook etc.

Ship them off to Sierra Leone or somewhere  where food is a Luxury. They would be seen as freaks and embarrassed to explain why they are so fat when these folk struggle on a starvation diet.

Its just not right is it?

Why should people get £25k disposable income for nothing? I'd love to have take home pay of £25k to support my wife and I. I'd have to earn over 35k to get that though. Its simple to me - why have Politicians not thought of it - TAX benefits as INCOME just like the rest of us?

That is a level playing field. Why get something for nothing. No argument that "its not worth working I'd be worse off".

BBC wastes Taxpayers money

How dare they waste our money, my money on such rubbish.

I don't know how in 21st Century Britain it is allowed that an organisation that answers to no one collects over £3.7billion in taxpayers money and spends it on "ENTERTAINMENT"?

If it was your local Council they would have to answer to the voters. Councils are being squeezed dry yet the BBC can spend all this money on the Likes of Jeremy Clarkson upsetting the Argentinians. Nothing happens.
I don't have any feelings for the Argentinians but i do object to the BBC sending Clarkson over there to upset them. Perhaps second thoughts it was a good idea but only if he STAYED there.

Any way if you agree write to your MP and demand that the Government sells off the BBC.

£3billion pounds is 3% of what the NHS spends and they could do with more money, what would you Rather have, you r cancer treatment or Eastenders? I know I might not get the answer I want but then some folk don't agree with me,

So be it.

Privatise the BBC. Stop this waste. Look at all those screens on behind the news readers no one there, if you Council did that they'd soon get sorted out.

More evidence today to support my stance. THey say that  they are "saving money". I know a way to save over £3billion....... Privatise the BBC!

Anyone noticed these SuperSize BT Cabinets appearing?

I walked down Sutton on Sea High Street today and nearly collided with a blockage on the pavement! It was half taken up with one of these new BT Cabinets - designed to give you FTTC. Fibre to the Cabinet. Yes a vast improvement on old wired Broadband speeds but blocking the Pavement! Well actually took up a good half a pavement.

Bad for the visually impaired or buggy/wheelchair users. How do they get away with it? Obstructing the pavements? If shopkeepers put signs out they get told off by Councils for blocking the pavements - one rule for one.........

The old cabinets were slim and discreet not these ones on STEROIDS.

Can't they find "off road" places to put them there's enough street furniture to negotiate.

Oh, and if BT get O2 does that mean they'll soon be biting at TalkTalk?

Edge of Tomorrow

Edge of Tomorrow, 2014, Tom Cruise, Emily Blunt. Groundhog  day meets Alien and Terminator.
Bit of a confusing start but gets better. I rate it not one of Toms
best films. As a sci-fi action is Ok. Rate It 3/5. If you've nothing better to watch - entertaining .

Fuss over too English school

I agree that Ofsted seem OTT over this school report but I can also understand the circumstances. Realistically it is very difficult for a school in deepest Lincolnshire to "arrange" to get their children more ethnic diversity.

Taking a trip say to Bradford school for a day would be a shock to their systems poor mites and actually probably;y do more harm than good. A school of black children in funny clothes with strange language and smells would be more like visiting a zoo for the children and not let them experience these people properly as equals.

Here in deepest Lincolnshire its like stepping back 50 years. It was a shock to my system when I first came here. They are very insular. Any "outsiders" are treated with caution. Its taken 10 years but I think they accept me as an incomer - I'll never be a yellow belly but they make jokes with me not at me now about "yorkies" (the tourists from Sheffield etc).

The problem here is the culture. They have this "slagging off" banter, but its not offensive, at least not meant to be offensive to the people concerned. Every body gets taunted and picked on but its a form of affection though if you're an outsider you'd be appalled and some things could get people locked up. So if you ARE an outsider say "black" or "gay" then you'd feel offended at the homophobia or racism but its not "meant" that way, but that's how they are.

Only when the minorities actually start appearing in larger Numbers will this change. I wonder when that will be? I often say Lincolnshire is the Land time forgot.

Anyone else been snared by Amazon?

Has
anyone else been snared by Amazon? I mean bought something without realising it until it arrives? I have. I protest i did not knowingly order it. I have no idea how it happened. Yes we use Amazon to buy things especially this time of year. Its easy but something went wrong. It is definitely too easy. They have you logged in and track your browsing hence the popups inviting you to buy.
OneClick is my Nemesis. Seems even if you disable it on PC/LAPTOP you can't disable it on Kindle. I was browsing on my wife`s
Kindle and bought something .  Honest i didn't - fat fingers. That OneClick is too close to the AddtoBasket/buy button. DOH!
Watch your email because once they've Despatched you can't cancel. So not like me and see the "despatched " email - too late. It arrives and you've to send it back, less postage.
Be Warned.
I've now removed my credit card details so if i can't pay - no  buy.

Why Bother Having Children?

Why Bother Having Children?

Why do so many parents have children then as soon as they can shove them in a Nursery. then they go to school till their 18 then hopefully start work/leave home? Where are the family values etc of raising a family?
I despair.
To me this is the root of ALL society's problems now. We have no Family unit, we don't "care" for each other. We are isolated, just me, me, me. Parents spend all their time on iPADs or phones, I know a teacher who had to ask a parent at parent's evening to "stop using the phone" (she was texting) while he was talking about her daughter. She gave him mouth full of abuse and left.

Money isn't everything, I know its important and essential to a good healthy life but what's wrong with prioritising your Children first? We did. Sacrifice when they're young and teach them your values etc. the benefits will come later.

Look at this letter written to BBC news , highlighted by MHMT

Dear Sir/Madam, I have been married for nearly 18 years and we have 3 children aged 13, 11 and 9. When we got married we bought our house with the intention that we would be able to pay the mortgage on one salary so that I wouldn't have to work if we had children. I do work, thankfully I managed to secure a permanent part time job as a Community Paediatrician in my local hospital. I chose not to continue my training to become a consultant as the hours I would have had to work would have meant barely seeing my children!
My children did attend childcare when they were pre school age - for up to 2 days a week which they loved but those hours were more than enough and they were exhausted after those days!
As they have got older and attended school I have been very fortunate to be able to work fairly flexibly and have my mum nearby to do school pick ups if I can't.
As my children have got older they need me more rather than less and I tend to come home from work earlier than I did when they were younger. If my job had not been so flexible and I had felt that it was impacting on my children I would have given it up. Money would have been tight but we would have managed.
I certainly would not ever consider more childcare regardless of how cheap or expensive it might be. My children need me.
I spend my days at work trying to pick up the pieces for children from chaotic broken homes and also from middle class homes where children never see their parents apart from the weekends!
Obviously some people have to work to make ends meet and not all children suffer negative effects of long hours of childcare. But why as a society can we not make it easier for parents to care for their own children instead of forcing them into the workplace and taking even more parents away from their children to care for other people's children!!
Let's think about what children need, not what the economy needs or what parents need! Our children are the economy and the society of the future so their needs are what is really important!
Thank you to the author of this letter from MAHM. Let's hope someone listens somewhere!

BBC losing sight of its responsibilities?

Anyone else been upset by the BBC this week ?
Last week as laudable as it was and professionally produced, good BBC  drama,  "Passing Bells" about WW 1 was NOT suitable viewing for 7pm. Young children could be watching. Also the 6pm news has featured a lot about the Ebola crisis and Syria, showing some distressing scenes, even bodies, definitely NOT suitable for young children. The BBC should be more responsible. Why is there no protests, is it just me?

Living Wage increase good

I think they should increase the Living Wage, but will people get it?

When folk on benefits can get over £25000 it doesn't seen fair.

To me simple answer  - TAX ALL BENEFITS

This way we're all equal. Those on low wages get benefits and pay tax why not those just on benefits? Only exception should be those benefits that are for disability. then when they go back to work they can't claim that "its not worth it" - after deductions they're worse off.

I'd also ensure that unused Tax allowances can be rolled up say over three years so that when they do go back to work they can pay less tax if they're on low wages. Some Tax allowances are rolled up over several years like Capital gains tax on properties so why not personal allowances?

Only thing is David sCameron - where is the promised Married Person's allowance?

Out of Afghanistan but terror reigns

Hoorah for getting our troops out but have we defeated terrism? NO.
The Afghan peasants still grow poppies for us to get heroin. all the misery, crime and death it wreaks here everyday. What are we doing? Not much.
We should have spent that £35b on fighting drugs. Pay the Afghan peasants to grow cabbages instead, anything to stop the drugs.
How it many people die every week from drug related causes? 28. This equates to a 7/7 style attack every 2 weeks. If so think about the reaction to that. no expense spared to catch the terrorists but as they are spread out there is little action. But how can i say it Drug dealers are terrorists by proxy. Think of all the crime that is drug related not to mention lives blighted by it.Why do the Taliban let people grow poppies and make opium then send it here? They are just surely poisoning our society from within.
Why aren't we fighting this Terrorism lie we put troops in Afghanistan ?

Shame - Scott out. Hoorah for Zoe

Hoorah for Zoe. She looked a little nervous at first but then a rousing performance.

Zoe scores 10

Claudia - 1

Scott is out, why did Miss Piggy win? - she hid her feet under a flowing white dress and "smoke" so how did the Judges know she was dancing - she wasn't.

Scot DID dance - not very good but better than her.

Shame, why are they so predudiced - I was warming to Scott, he tries.

Ann Maguire killed by psycho pupil.

I hope now the (Will Cornick) idiot has been sentenced to life the school/Local authority are prosecuted by the HSE for failing their duty to protect her.

I know things can never be totally predicted but surly to bring into school a big carving knife is totally reckless - yes the school must stop this - use scanners if necessary - a teacher's life is priceless for a little inconvenience.

Looking at what was put on Facebook etc. I can't believe there were no signs of his mental state and they should have dealt with it.

Maybe a big court case could save future lives?

Privatise the BBC

At last some sense about this senseless "Entertainment Tax" how does the BBC get away with it?

Conservative MP John Whittingdale said the licence fee was ‘unsustainable’ and needed to be brought up to date with how people now watched TV.

Hear Hear - sense.

Will the lights go out this winter ? Maybe.

Will the lights go ut this winter we are warned the margin is small. Yes this is what happens when Governments allow reckless Companies to cash in on the Gas boom of the 80's and 90's. Gas power should only be used for "topping up" power at times of peak demand yet Gas power stations were all rage - they were cheap to build and run, low in pollution (but not CO2)  and reaped in the payments. North Sea gas has gone and you don't see so many now.

Wind Power is unreliable - what we don't want is prolonged cold and no wind, then Russia might turn the Gas off. We've even less of a store of Gas - that might worry you. the cold winter before we got down to 1 yes 1 days supply! I can sit in the dark as long as the heatings on. Without Gas what do you do - light a fire.? In the power cut ther's no "heater" to put on.

Be worried. it take 10 years to build a new Nuclear power station. They are just starting on the first one for over 20 years that's why we're in trouble. What about tidal - its reliable, renewable and non polluting and could help with flood defences.

We all need to shout about it.

Transformers Age of Extinction

you really need to be a transformers fan or less than 7 years old to enjoy this. previous films were better. i think Michael Bay was just going through the
motions . Tessa  Yeager (Nicola Peltz), the girl just seemed token glamour.
Given she'd been brought up by an"inventor" Cade Yeager (Mark Walhberg) I expected more techno savvy from her but ended up damsel in distress and lots of screaming .
I've known transformers 30 yrs, nice to see the Dinobots appear though no explanation of them to the masses! yes i expected the story to be evolving over 4 films but the back story was very thin  and disappointing. My favourite character was Joshua Joyce (Stanley Tucci ). 3* (2* if you're not a Transformers fan).

daily mail likes claudia ?

Claudia Winkleman is not brilliant like Jan Moir says. What is going on-am i the only one who can see through the Emporers clothes ? Dare i criticise her? She seems be dumbing down Strictly with her "pants" (if she thought of it, if not then someone is sending her up) and daft "jokes ", even Tess grits her teeth and has to smile! Yes she is clever, too clever. Some remarks are not understood especially by non English dancers and i find them insulting not funny. Claudia is acting like a bad version of Bobby Ball to Tess's  Canon. Yes Sooty and Sweep have more rapport and after all they ARE for children.
Is this what the BBC wants. Perhaps i am wrong?

this IS why UKIP is winning. The Main 3 parties still don't get it.

Tamara Cohen writes in the Daily Mail but quotes a Matthew Parris article from The Times in which he rails against the Voters of Clacton and dismisses them as insignificant.

I think he's very patronising of thousands of voters across the country - he is exactly right about their values and attitudes but we all have a vote don't we and if enough don't Vote for the "Big Three" then someone else is getting the votes and will Win.

He patronises and denigrates these voters with his words. If he is right then what is wrong with these people - are they not free to live their lives as they choose, not how MP chooses?

Somebody has to represent the static caravans and holiday villages, and the people and places that for no fault of their own are not getting where a 21st century Britain needs to be going.

There are many in a place like this who might be attracted again to the Tories by a noisy display of hostility towards immigration-and-Europe, political correctness and health-and-safety: hostility to a Britain that has forgotten the joys of Ken Dodd, meat pies, smoking in pubs and the Bee Gees

He IS right that part of Britain MUST move into the 21st Century and make the wealth. There is a lot of these in the South East and they are not living in Clacton. What he doesn't realise is how people feel North of Watford. They are hard working but still they do not see the wealth of the SE, they are sick of the Bankers Bonuses that are telephone numbers but WE have bailed out these reckless Bankers and see the Establishment as in bed with them so what are they going to do for us?

With attitudes like yours Matthew they will no vote Tory or Labour because Milliband is not Working Class - he's just as out of touch with real life as the rest.

Paedophiles viewing online porn IS as bad as child molestation

Amanda Plattell is right that John Grisham is wrong to defend his buddy,  she is also right saying "But isn’t that exactly what any man who accesses images of child abuse is — a pervert? They may not harm children themselves, but their search for images of younger and younger looking boys and girls implicitly supports an evil paedophile industry that does — and which trades the images for profits or for perverted pleasure. In legal terms, that makes the voyeurs complicit in the crime."

Then she is WRONG saying that

"while it may be true that not every man who seeks out underage pornography is a danger to children"

EVERY MAN who seeks out underage porn IS a danger to children.

How on earth does she think the Porn gets there? Children are abused to produce the PORN. IT is abuse by PROXY.

Why can't the police catch them all?

Sophisticated Internet technology can track everyones surfing habits from their computer to every porn site and they know exactly what you have looked at. From the ISP records they know who pays the Bills, so come on Police lets track them down. You don't even have to leave your comfy office and face the nasty criminals its like catching speeders - using CCTV and cameras.

NO EXCUSES.

Cohabiting is same as Marriage?

Daily Mail - judge rules cohabitee is entitled to share of man's wealth. Rubbish. if people want the "legal" rights of marriage "GET MARRIED"!
It only takes 10minutes in a register office. Why all the fuss about Gay Marriage if it makes no difference? I thought when Cameron's law came in it would help all Married people. Where is the married person's tax allowance?

Poor Claudia Winkleman

You know I have probably seemed that I don't like Claudia Winkleman, but its not true.

I feel sorry for her, she is being treated badly by everybody. (all except the £250k she gets paid - I'd make fool of myself for that!).

anyway she just has no talent, dress sense( pink pillowcase dress, or looks like she's just come from a funeral) but the worst is the BBC and papers seem to think she's OK, then they print articles in a sarcastic way saying how good she is when really they are sending her up. I don't think she realises what a fool they are making of her that's the problem.

Sunday night she had a pink cut down onesy on?

Why does she act like a 2nd rate Bobby Ball to Tess's Canon? She's better than this.

Come on folks save Claudia.

How come Simon Webbe was in the dance off? He's much better than many others. Oh the fickle voting public. Its "entertainment" NOT a dance competition. I forgot.

Immigrants HIV and the cost to the NHS

Sue Reid is right, health tourism, we are a soft option.

What riles me is that she says,

The process is simple: Foreigners can get a unique and permanent NHS number, which they are then usually able to use to get free hospital care. They can also book an appointment online or just walk in without a doctor’s referral.

this makes my blood boil, how dare they, if only WE had a service as good as THAT, here in Lincolnshire.

Here we can't do any of that. Ring up, if you're lucky you could be one of the first 20 or so to get an appointment TODAY - (fair enough) but that's it, wait till tomorrow and try again. No walking in, no prebooking.

I've lived here 58 years and paid my NI TAX etc. why are WE the 2nd class citizens to Immigrants?

Illegal Immigrants stopped - Dead!

I don't understand how all these so-called Illegal Immigrants can "sneak" across hiding in Cross channel Ferries? Where can they go for heavens sake when on the Ferry.

I say, when under way - as I remember every passenger has to leave their vehicles on the Car-decks. So when everyone has gone lets flood the car deck with anti-vermin poisonous gas. We don't want any pests coming into our country like "colorado beetle", poisonous spiders, snakes or foxes bringing Rabies etc.. So lets sterilise the vehicles, after all everyone is safe on Deck - ideal time to do it.

No one would be foolish enough to stay on the car-deck would they?

Oh - you'd have to allow pets out to go somewhere of course - can't be inhumane can we?

NO to Asserby WindFarm - who owns the land?

I have asked just who is Energie Kontor? They are the Company putting in the planning application to ELDC but they don't own the land. This seems wrong in that if I wanted to extend my house I would have to put in planning form my house and my neighbours would know exactly what I was planning.

Asserby Wind farm is simply and vaguely Land to the South of Asserby.....but who owns this vast tract of land - well I think its basically 3 people. These people will benefit to the tune on many millions of pounds over the years from the Turbine Earnings - mainly from Government (yours and mine) subsidies, even if the Turbines aren't generating!

So, I believe one landowner is

Gary Allis,
Furzehill Farm, Bilsby,
Alford, Lincolnshire, LN13 9QS

He is well known locally for his cricketing exploits and Farm (650 acres) innovations - good luck to him as a farmer I say, but how will he live with his neighbours when he's angered so many and destroyed the areas heritage? I thought farmesrs cared about the land, sorry no its a business, he wants to earn MAXIMUM from hi Land. Wind Turbines harvest the Wind!!

Mrs Sarah Jane Alliss is also a director.

I show you the theoretical income from a 10gw windfarm as proposed for Asserby, shared between, EnergieKontor and 3 people of course.

Top Gear starts second Falklands War?

Top gear could have made sensational headlines as above - maybe? Well it seems the Argies aren't happy with Jeremy Clarkson and co who were filming a Top Gear "stunt" there.

Were they aware of possible significance of the number plated Porsche? "oh dear, no" they said - "you bet they were " I SAY.

Heavens sake this is Top Gear they like to court controversy - why does JC work for the BBC? He's nearly been sacked a couple of times but they let him off.

Weather the BBC like TG because they can sell it is one thing, as a Taxpayer funded organisation I say "NO WAY". How on earth is the BBC allowed to do these things? If it was a private company fair enough - they take the consequences, but when  you and I are paying for it. In these days of austerity, the Government wants to cut Benefits to make ends meet, how about letting every body be £145 a year better off. Abolish the Licence fee, and Privatise the BBC.

MP John Whittingdale who chairs the Culture and Media committee said that "it was getting harder to sustain the license fee".

Too right when the bloated BBC languishes fat salaries on endless "executives", insane "stars", ridiculous "presenters" (Claudia Winkelman £250,000) and wastes money provoking other countries, do we really expect this on our hard earned money. If even a minute fraction of any of this was done by say your local council (taxpayer funded) or your MP (taxpayer funded) there would out cry "sack them" but this is hte BBC (Taxpayer Funded).

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE?

News Corporation is still feeling the effects of the "Phone Hacking" scandal - what are the sanctions on the BBC - I think its too much part of the establishment - hence why Jimmy Saville got away with it for so long. Maybe there is change in the air?

They sold off the Post Office, if Sky can be profitable then why not the BBC,? It gets over £3 billion pounds a year to make "entertainment"!! how can this be in 2014?

Racists - Ton n Jerry? non-pc cartoons

I have always decried the attitude to "rewriting history" - typified by the attitude to using the "N" word that I am allowed to allude to so everyone knows but not actually use! It was Guy Gibson's Black Labrador's name in 1942!1 For heavens sake - what else form history shall we erase that we don't like now?

So the Tom and Jerry cartoons used Racist images/subjects whatever? Times were different 50/60 years ago. Maybe it was offensive then - people just didn't know it - we have learnt though haven't we.
(you know the above article appeared in Saturdays Daily Mail - I thought I was reading what I had written).

There are differences though, what is a word - the "N" word. Can I say "N" black?

Its not being offensive is it - the word exists - I don't like the "F" word. Don't use it personally but loads of people do and it offends me but I let it ride unless they are being offensive to me. Any word can be offensive to somebody depending on how it is used, black, white, big, small, thin, fat, boy, girl, happy , sad, gay, merry I could go on. Pointless.

Its not the words its the context.

Personally depicting violence to under 12s is bad, e.g. many films now are rated 12 or PG when they show "fantasy violence" whatever that is it seems to be OK. Killing is killing. Perhaps one day we'll have some protection for crimes against Fantasy Characters - someone needs to stand up for them.

Tories Freeze Benefits

SO Mr Os born conspiracy, want to squeeze more out of the poorest to cut the deficit - he should be ashamed.

It was the fat Bankers that caused the problems let them pay. We've baled out the banks - I mean you and me to the tune of £1500 per man, woman and child. Can I have my money back now please, George. At the same time he gives money back to the rich, by cutting the top rate of tax.

Surely the fairest way is to put 1p on income tax and then everyone WORKING pays their fair share until we have recovered.

I do agree that Benefits should have a cap - its not a blank cheque and we can't afford it, but not the poorest to suffer. Also limit their rise to 1% that 's what I've just got after 5 years of no rise. Give the Midwives 1% too.

Again why is VAT at 5% charged on Gas and electricity bills? The poorest (on benefits/pensions) have to pay it or do without Mssrs Cameron and Osborne don't worry about their bills 'cos they're rich. The poorest pay the most relative to their income. If you're going to freeze them (literally) then why not take VAT off the first £1000 of bill?

Lastly yes - if everyone could work and not claim benefits then there wouldn't need to be a freeze on benefits. SO get everyone working Mr Osborne. Hitting them when they're down won't work.

strictly rip-off

can you believe that Tess Daly & Igor Winkleman (you can guess where that name comes from) get £250k each for the show. Len etc. only get £100k each. ridiculous. this is public money. surely they could get someone worthwhile, pretty and funny for less? what about Gordon the Gofer?
Privatise the BBC. Sajid Javid is right £145 tax for entertainment is too much. Especially when its squandered on Igor.

How to edit PDFs without Adobe

How to edit PDFs: make change to a PDF
Need to tweak or correct a PDF? The process may not be obvious, but it can be done: here's how
PDF files are a convenient way to distribute digital documents. As well as text and graphics, they contain precise layout information, so a PDF is effectively a digital representation of a printed page. Indeed, many PDF creation tools work by setting themselves up as virtual printer drivers.
PDF isn’t a good format for documents you intend to edit, however. It is possible to create PDFs with editable text boxes, which you can fill in from within Adobe Reader or another compatible tool. There’s also software that can add and remove pages from a multi-page document, and perform other tricks such as resizing pages and cropping away unwanted margins.

When it comes to editing the actual content of a PDF page, however, things get tricky. It is possible to move and edit the text and graphics within a PDF, as we’ll discuss below. But text isn’t “live” in the way you’re probably used to: if you shorten a line, the words below won’t jump up to close the gap – they’ll remain pinned in place. If you can, it’s normally easier to edit or recreate the document in Word or a similar application, rather than trying to edit a PDF directly.
Getting hands-on with PDF
There are several tools that can be used to edit PDFs. One is Adobe Illustrator, but a handy free alternative is LibreOffice Draw: this isn’t distributed on its own, but you can get it by downloading and installing the full LibreOffice suite. LibreOffice Draw can open multi-page PDFs – use the Page Up and Page Down keys to move around the document – and allows you to freely edit, move and add text and graphical elements.

As I’ve mentioned, editing text can be problematic: individual lines of text can normally be edited with Draw’s Text tool, but you may need to move words around manually to balance out a multi-line paragraph.
You’ll also hit problems if the text in your PDF file uses a font that isn’t installed on your system: in this case, LibreOffice Draw will render it in a default font, causing the spacing to go wrong and losing the original appearance.
Just to make it interesting, some PDFs contain text rendered as graphics: in this case, you won’t be able to directly edit the text at all. The best you can do is select and delete unwanted characters individually, then overlay a new text box containing the desired replacement text.
Despite these obstacles, hopefully you’ll be able to make the desired changes to your PDF. When you’re happy, you can save your edited file by selecting File | Export as a PDF… and specifying the relevant options. Note that, by default, images embedded in a PDF will have JPEG compression applied each time you resave the file, so picture quality can degrade if you make repeated edits.

Editing locked PDFs
It’s worth noting that the PDF specification includes some security features that allow a document creator to forbid others from doing certain things, such as saving printing or editing a PDF. Should you need to make an edit to a locked file, a quick web search should turn up plenty of free tools and websites that will unlock PDF files for free.

Alternatively, as long as the document isn’t locked for printing, there’s another trick that can be used – so long as you have both a PDF creation tool and the Microsoft XPS Document Writer installed on your system as virtual printer drivers. All you need to do is print the document using this latter driver, to create a copy of it in XPS format – then open this document in Reader or another application and reprint it as an unprotected PDF. You should then be able to tamper with it as you choose

Apple iPhone iOS8 Upgrade - how to save space.

Apple iPhone iOS8 Upgrade - how to save space.

Having trouble installing the new iOS8? here's what to do

  1. Delete something - can you copy your photos to your Pc or at least some of them? and delete them.
  2. Download the iOS to your PC and install from there. Its the uncompressing of the iOS install files that needs the space it takes less than 2gb when installed so do it on your Pc and install on the phone.

The second option is definitely the simplest. Just connect your Apple device to your computer (Windows or Mac, doesn’t matter) and load up iTunes. First, you’ll need to check it's updated to the latest version: to do this go to Help > Check in the menu bar on Macs, or iTunes > Check on a PC.

Next, click on the Summary tab and simply click ‘Check for Update’. iOS 8 has been available now for at least half a day so it should have no problem finding and installing it – you just need an internet connection and a little patience.

Fuel Poverty is a Scandal

I've said it before it is grossly unfair that the poorest in society have the most expensive fuel bills.
Planners back Goole Fields 2 image
Don't believe me? Think about it.

  • Most tariffs are geared at people who can afford to have big bills, the more you use the cheaper per unit it gets.
  • Also with the standing charge even if you used NOTHING you'd still have a bill to pay.
  • All bills have 5% VAT, so the higher the price the more HMG gets
  • Regardless of your income - you may be on benefits or a pension YOU pay VAT
  • If you're on a pre-payment meter - you pay in advance and can't swap supplier.
  • Prepayment meters are the dearest tariff
  • The GREEN Tax - another 10-15% goes to GREEN energy - what's that? Paying big businesses millions to build Wind Turbines that only work a third of the time, the rest of the time they get paid even more! Unbelievable - check it out.
  • The Big Green 'uns get paid even more.
  • If you're in arrears you can't swap suppliers.
  • Poorest people live in homes with the worst efficient heating/insulated homes.
  • Poorest people often can't manage their heating.
Need I go on? Basically VAT and the Green Tax is a Robin Hood in reverse Tax, making the poorest pay the most so the Rich get richer.

James Jordan agrees Claudia is a flop

Ex Strictly Dancer James Jordan mouths off about the Strictly bosses who sacked him but kept "dumbo black widow" Claudia in the show to replace Sir Bruce.

I can't believe how dumb they must be - surely this will be the last series, "D" list celebrities and Claudia must turn people off.

X Factor wins this year I predict.

Oh, and Privatise the BBC - I don't want to pay for this rubbish - do you?

Privatise the BBC - £1000 bounty to catch dodgers

TV on the Taxpayers? Ludicrous in the 21st Century. Why put people in prison for watching TV. When there are all the alternatives to the BBC - all Private and they can make money WHY do we have to pay the Licence fee? Its a TAX on entertainment.

They could save all the money in the courts hounding people and making criminals out of them and in this time of austerity we can't afford a £145 a year tax. I've had no pay-rise for 5 years yet MPs are to get 10% whether they want it or not.

Privatise the BBC and do away with the Licence fee. Public service TV can be paid for out of levy on all of the TV channel providers SKY can afford  bit.

"5 day lag" on your iPhone - not synching emails/no data

If you are not apparently not getting your GSM signal and/or no data downloading try this.

I spoke to Vodafone and they suggested this.

They said the phone had a "5 day lag" - I'm not sure what this means but they suggest that you "reset the Carrier"

On the phone go to
Settings/Carrier
It should be set to "Automatic"
Turn off "Automatic"
It should Search then for available networks.
Select one - not Vodafone, or whatever your normal carrier is,
Set back to automatic
(it should fail)
Repeat and select Vodafone (or your normal Carrier) again and set back to Automatic.
This should resolve the data problem.
