Spoof emails what do you do?

If you get some spurious half legitimate looking email FROM YOURSELF!! (never), it can’t be TRUE!

I’m guessing that one of your Contacts has been “hacked”. Somehow (and I’m speculating) that a “bot” has got onto  their Pc and accessed the address list passing details to the hacker. Then they can use the email addresses on the list to send “spoof” (SPAM) emails like the one supposedly from PayPal to you. As it seems from yourself!!

As you are probably aware NEVER click on the links contained in these emails. If you hover over it you will see the exact address it is linking to – not PayPal of course.

Nothing we can do about what is “out there” – anyone you’ve ever emailed could be hacked and then messages will come back to you, hence the silliness/stupidity  of ever “sending around” so called “informational/funny” emails no matter how well meaning they seem to be. When they hit someone who has been hacked, bingo, the hackers get all the email addresses used in that email, thus it grows like a virus.

Register with SPAMcop and fight them.
