Trump wants to Ban Internet?

Trump wants to Ban the internet to foil terrorism? Maybe a bit simplistic but I sort of agree with the idea.
I've argued that the internet is a wonderful tool for all criminals including terrorists. But no one can truly be anonymous there. To get on you need an IP address, much like a car number plate. All IP addresses relate to countries and are obtained from companies who own them. So if the authorities want to know who is saying what track the IP address down. EASY. Yes I know they try to hide, spoofing or using proxies, but also all internet traffic has to be routed. So just like Trump wants to Mu slims entering USA, then track the IP addresses as far as you can then where it stops the company routing it should be locked down. The message wool echo across the internet and the company's don't want to lose business. Maybe whole countries need blocking? Can be done, till they root out the criminals. It's not just Google,  Facebook, Microsoft to blame they just sit on the internet but they should too take down the vile information hosted. They should give up all information on the people behind the names used.

Internet is harming our children

Dr MAX is right about pornography and its  insidious effect on children. He doesn't go far enough. Internet pornography and computer games have a permanent effect on children. Looking at these images directly affects these young brains.
The eye is connected to the brain so watching these images crucially affects growing brains irreversibly forever. We must be very careful about what they watch at their tender age.

ISIS bombed away?

ISIS are being attacked by Anonymous. Good. Rather than bombing Syria we need to strangle the  ideology that fuels these fanatics. If the world is against them and they have no friend s, allies, supplies or voice how can they carry on? They can't hurt us from the middle of the Middle East desert.

Can't bomb an Ideaology

Its no good Cameron thinking we can bomb ISIS to death. You can't bomb an ideaology. The terrorists can't be reasoned with so we've no choice but shoot to kill or they'll kill us, but we must cut off their Oxygen. How do they post on the internet, where do they get weapons, tools, cars and money from? Anyone associated with them must be found and stopped. Block the internet we CAN. They stop paedophiles etc.if say Toyota felt the wrath of Governments and people or ISIS using their cars then they'd soon put pressure on their supply chains to stop dealing with them. The buck stops  here. The message would get across "don't deal with ISIS".
Then we've got educate the Muslims here and elsewhere that mindless violence won't win the war. either give them something worth having at home better than ISIS.

Big Brother Snooping?

Why all this fuss over the new powers?

Will HMG really have time to investigate everybody's browsing habits, look at all your emails - especially when 90% are spam. You'er welcome.

Every internet device has a unique IP address so I don't actually understand how they can't track these ISIS type people who post vile stuff on the internet to encourage Jihad and taunt the West.

There's got to be some powerful intermediaries who proxy the traffic. Internationally we need to shut them down in Eastern Europe maybe?

I want shares in companies that provide network Routers and switches, those that sell hard drives - think of the storage involved in saving all these history logs? Then the Software to analyse it for the Police.

I agree they need to investigate Internet/Cyber crime more because in aninstant millions of pounds can be transferred/stolen. Gone are the days of the burgular with a mask breaking in your house. He sits at home with a PC!

Drones the future of warfare?

Are Drones the future of warfare? Fighting ISIS in the open desert but I ask a more sophisticated enemy would fight back. After all in  world of Tony Stark's its big business but if the command centre is in Lincolnshire they need pretty damn good link to remote control their toys? I wouldn't rely on the internet or mobile phone signals. Yes I know the RAF have satellites but so do the others? (Russia/China etc.) so it would be so easy to bring them down and then where would your Drones be? Yes - on the ground - DEAD! The EMC from a nuclear blast would wipe out the comms as well - so easy. Drones are for Big Brother and bullies!

Bankers have all the Power?

I watched Wolf Hall the other week and I thought that it was extremely funny that Cromwell threatened Harry Percy with Bankruptcy if he did not co-operate. No physical violence just that he was so in debt that Cromwell could make him a pariah by getting his Banker friends to stop his loans then he would have no one and no one would want to be his friend.

Funny how this is still true today.

How would ISIS function without money.

They get money from several sources, oil, and rich supporters who have oil, plus dealing in antiquities.

To me what is astonishingly scandalous is WHO handles this money for them? Surely they don't carry cash around in suitcases?

If we in the West could simply cut off their supply of money by breaking all internet links they have and confiscating/freezing the funds wherever they are and anyone else who is connected to them - thsat is these dealers in  these antiquities, the millionaires who buy them, the arms dealers etc. etc.

Surely we could then stifle them out. NO FIGHTING necessary.

Come on Obama, Cameron, Merkel, UN, etc. etc. STOP IT, or does the dirty money go up even to these hallowed places?

Look at thes pictures showing ISIS parading in Libya in TOYOTA CARS. Lets all Boycott TOYOTA as a supporter of ISIS. They'd soon stop supplpying vehicles to terrorists if the rest of the world became a no sell zone!!

Come on Obama, Cameron, Merkel, UN, etc. etc. put sanctions on Japan/Toyota - see what happens?

Paedophiles viewing online porn IS as bad as child molestation

Amanda Plattell is right that John Grisham is wrong to defend his buddy,  she is also right saying "But isn’t that exactly what any man who accesses images of child abuse is — a pervert? They may not harm children themselves, but their search for images of younger and younger looking boys and girls implicitly supports an evil paedophile industry that does — and which trades the images for profits or for perverted pleasure. In legal terms, that makes the voyeurs complicit in the crime."

Then she is WRONG saying that

"while it may be true that not every man who seeks out underage pornography is a danger to children"

EVERY MAN who seeks out underage porn IS a danger to children.

How on earth does she think the Porn gets there? Children are abused to produce the PORN. IT is abuse by PROXY.

Why can't the police catch them all?

Sophisticated Internet technology can track everyones surfing habits from their computer to every porn site and they know exactly what you have looked at. From the ISP records they know who pays the Bills, so come on Police lets track them down. You don't even have to leave your comfy office and face the nasty criminals its like catching speeders - using CCTV and cameras.

NO EXCUSES.

Rolf Harris

I have to mention this.

No way am I condoning anything he's done - all abuse is horrid, despicable and a crime and must be punished. However everyone in this case are victims, even you and me! We were all lied to by this Man, loved his programs and songs etc. if only we'd known.

Now this is my point, why has it taken 30odd years for this to come out?

This has to be taken in context of the world 30years ago, it was wrong now and was wrong then, but why did the victims not come forward before now? If they had spoken out and he had been found out and punished 30 years ago how different things would be.

Now I'm not saying its not true but can these people be sure that they remember what he did and when? Yes I know they will say its Seared in my memory and is as real today as if it was yesterday. The mind can play tricks. Have you never dreamt something and then thought it was real or otherwise. My point is 2 fold, because of this surely we should put a time limit on bringing charges like this to trial - 30/20/10 years ? What do you think? Not to save the perpetrator but justice must be done. He has got away with it for 30 years. If he'd been stopped straight away think of the others who would have NOT been abused. Same with some other high profile cases. The problem here is US, society we still do not accept that these things happen - natural instinct is not to believe it. Who, Rolf Harris? - never! Yet the evidence is there.

We must bring it out and make a climate to allow the victims to report these things immediately. I don't mean next day, it does take time to understand what has happened. You go into shock, withdrawal, denial, fear etc. but there is a time when you can think about it and know it was a CRIME, wrong and needs reporting but they don't. WE MUST make this happen to stop it carrying on and there being more victims  - we owe it to our children. STOP these monsters!!

2nd thing, sentence lenient? Well he was tried on crimes under the law at the time, 30 years ago. Things were different then. Society changes.

It used to be OK to slap your children - now its not.
It used to be OK to drink and drive - now its not.
It used be the done thing to smoke - now its not.

See how society changes. Attitudes to drink driving have changed now and I can't really see anyone "getting away" with it - we just don't condone it, we'd shop our brother/mother/son etc.

So we must change our attitudes to "abuse" and teach our children how to "tell" on these people who do nasty/wrong things to them that they don't like. We must be open and let them speak about it and then the Police must be prepared to listen to them and take the details and deal with it. I've heard of reports that someone reports it and then a young PC turns up at the door with notebook and wants all the details. Does a teenage girl want to tell ALL the sordid details to a young copper. Who will probably then go and blab about it to his mates later in the Pub? Yes I know the Police are stretched but so what. Don't we all agree these crimes are serious and need dealing with, the victims (and remember everyone around them feels a victim and guilty by proxy) - how did I let this happen (to my child) after all we as parents are supposed to protect them but we have to trust people - we try our best. Hence I say these things must be dealt with straight away  not 30 years later. I know it will still happen people will have all sorts of reasons for not telling. We MUST try and change it though.

Please - to stop future victims.

However what are we to do about the filth available on the internet? These vile images Rolf got. Someone somewhere is making and posting the images. These too are abusers, as well as those who look. Everyone involved, even the ISPs who sit on there hands and say "we're not responsible we just provide internet", yes they have a responsibility, it can be done. Trace the perpetrators and tell the police.

We must STOP it.

I predicted the Internet!

Now that should have been me. Back in the '80s when I worked for Visionhire I predicted that folk would just want cable TV they would have access to TV/films and all sorts of information via their telephone wires!

I should be as rich as Suranga Chandratillake!

Thatcher Protests - real or hyped by media?

So are all these so called protesters causing mayhem in London's streets really so
Anti-Thatcher? I think not.
Look at the protesters at Thatcher’s funeral, and around the country. Most of them either weren’t  born in the 80's or were too young to care what was happening. SO what is it? What are they up to – I’ll tell you.

I think we are seeing an element of society we have nothing to lose - are they on benefits? - or are seeking alternative thrills? I believe it is orchestrated by new technology,  face book, twitter an other web sites/apps giving these people an alternative Cyber persona that revels in "nastiness and hooliganism", they orchestrate these gatherings to cause mayhem as a an alternative to Saturday nights in the pub. Have you noticed the change in people where the new way of complimenting people is an insult? can you tell which it is friendly or a real hurtful insult? Calling names and wounding.
The riots last year were helped by cyber media - Facebook, twitter and other web sites, texting using apps. We have a generation who revel in this sort of thing and society need to catch up with these changes.
What about the trouble in Newcastle after the match. Why do  these people revel in violence.
In George Orwell’s 1984 they have the thought-police who intervene when people are veering away from towing the society/Government line - this will come to us - where
Government will monitor your cyber space persona for bad behaviour and intervene to prevent trouble, It will  come as a reaction to these recent events. Its not Big Brother, (Orwell not CHannel 5),  well yes it is but as a result of trying to maintain order. Don' t blame government its elements of society at extremes who are pushing the boundaries and changing  things forever for the rest of us. what do we want violence or peace. It comes at a price thought - less freedom. Look where we are now - all internet traffic is monitored, the Government want to look at all your emails and text messages - good luck to them I say when over half what I get is SPAM anyway! but then were on camera nearly everywhere.
People want it for "safety" but now with face recognition software you can be tracked.
Your mobile can be tracked - even better with GPRS signal, then there's cars, caught on speed cameras or Number plate recognition, the Congestion charge (CCTV again) using your credit card every EPOS machine/cash machine knows where you are and what you spent. So it goes on.
But at the end is it stopping crime? Think of 9:11, July 7th or Monday  in Boston. Do the authorities act soon enough on intelligence. Not enopugh resources that's why they turn to Cyber space.I think the screws are definitely tightening - but maybe they have to?

Teaching kids programming

Kids today love their gadgets, computers and smartphones but do they understand how they work?

I agree it would be ideal to get children to understand how computers etc. work but it just is not going to happen. I also agree that we've got to embrace the information age and "social media" not fight it but children need to learn the discipline of frittering time away on Facebook and twitter. They do need to learn.

How? I know my 2 year old grand daughter can use an iPAD better than me to play games and watch Postman Pat but is she learning? Yes. Later on using the technology will be intuitive to her so then she can move on to learning. Its technological evolution. The teachers just haven't caught up.

Think, how would you explain Televison or the internet to Isambard Kingdom Brunel? Our most brilliant engineer of all time. He was building things with unheard of technology in his time. Even he couldn't explain how it worked he just DID IT!

That's what kids will do with new technolgy of the 21st century. Don't fight it, EMBRACE it.
