Ban on veils

so Belgium has had its veil ban upheld as lawful by the EU court of human rights.
I have always wondered why they're not banned here ? You can't go into a bank with a motorcycle helmet on for obvious reasons. In our society we are are all open about our identity and are suspicious of those who hide.

What point to marriage?

Now I've every sympathy with the lady who suddenly lost her long time partner and yes they were going to marry but the fact is they weren't married. If the court rules that non married couples can have the same rights as married couples then I just can't agree. Sort  but what is the point of marriage?
It used to be the legal contract for two people to say we share everything for life. If you're not married the where do you draw the line. When do two people become a couple? A year, a month, a week, a day? Surely if you are really committed and want to share GET MARRIED.

Big Brother Snooping?

Why all this fuss over the new powers?

Will HMG really have time to investigate everybody's browsing habits, look at all your emails - especially when 90% are spam. You'er welcome.

Every internet device has a unique IP address so I don't actually understand how they can't track these ISIS type people who post vile stuff on the internet to encourage Jihad and taunt the West.

There's got to be some powerful intermediaries who proxy the traffic. Internationally we need to shut them down in Eastern Europe maybe?

I want shares in companies that provide network Routers and switches, those that sell hard drives - think of the storage involved in saving all these history logs? Then the Software to analyse it for the Police.

I agree they need to investigate Internet/Cyber crime more because in aninstant millions of pounds can be transferred/stolen. Gone are the days of the burgular with a mask breaking in your house. He sits at home with a PC!

Abbatoir - Halal Meat Cruelty proved.

Shocking evidence of how Halal meat is slaughtered. Be warned. Yes the sheep are to die but in this country we have laws against cruelty to animals I thought there were laws too about how slaughter houses had to STUN animals before killing them?

Seems these religious fanatics can get away with cruelty - WHY? Pictures from this thirsk abbatoir show cruelty. Yes the men have been caught but how many aren't?

Does someone worry about offending them?

I despair about the goodie two shoes in this country.

Yes - I want to know if its HalHal meat.

Yes - I want to know if its HalHal meat. Muslims want to know too - they wouldn't eat it if it wasn't so isn't it my right to know that my meat has been humanely killed according to British Law?

Rolf Harris

I have to mention this.

No way am I condoning anything he's done - all abuse is horrid, despicable and a crime and must be punished. However everyone in this case are victims, even you and me! We were all lied to by this Man, loved his programs and songs etc. if only we'd known.

Now this is my point, why has it taken 30odd years for this to come out?

This has to be taken in context of the world 30years ago, it was wrong now and was wrong then, but why did the victims not come forward before now? If they had spoken out and he had been found out and punished 30 years ago how different things would be.

Now I'm not saying its not true but can these people be sure that they remember what he did and when? Yes I know they will say its Seared in my memory and is as real today as if it was yesterday. The mind can play tricks. Have you never dreamt something and then thought it was real or otherwise. My point is 2 fold, because of this surely we should put a time limit on bringing charges like this to trial - 30/20/10 years ? What do you think? Not to save the perpetrator but justice must be done. He has got away with it for 30 years. If he'd been stopped straight away think of the others who would have NOT been abused. Same with some other high profile cases. The problem here is US, society we still do not accept that these things happen - natural instinct is not to believe it. Who, Rolf Harris? - never! Yet the evidence is there.

We must bring it out and make a climate to allow the victims to report these things immediately. I don't mean next day, it does take time to understand what has happened. You go into shock, withdrawal, denial, fear etc. but there is a time when you can think about it and know it was a CRIME, wrong and needs reporting but they don't. WE MUST make this happen to stop it carrying on and there being more victims  - we owe it to our children. STOP these monsters!!

2nd thing, sentence lenient? Well he was tried on crimes under the law at the time, 30 years ago. Things were different then. Society changes.

It used to be OK to slap your children - now its not.
It used to be OK to drink and drive - now its not.
It used be the done thing to smoke - now its not.

See how society changes. Attitudes to drink driving have changed now and I can't really see anyone "getting away" with it - we just don't condone it, we'd shop our brother/mother/son etc.

So we must change our attitudes to "abuse" and teach our children how to "tell" on these people who do nasty/wrong things to them that they don't like. We must be open and let them speak about it and then the Police must be prepared to listen to them and take the details and deal with it. I've heard of reports that someone reports it and then a young PC turns up at the door with notebook and wants all the details. Does a teenage girl want to tell ALL the sordid details to a young copper. Who will probably then go and blab about it to his mates later in the Pub? Yes I know the Police are stretched but so what. Don't we all agree these crimes are serious and need dealing with, the victims (and remember everyone around them feels a victim and guilty by proxy) - how did I let this happen (to my child) after all we as parents are supposed to protect them but we have to trust people - we try our best. Hence I say these things must be dealt with straight away  not 30 years later. I know it will still happen people will have all sorts of reasons for not telling. We MUST try and change it though.

Please - to stop future victims.

However what are we to do about the filth available on the internet? These vile images Rolf got. Someone somewhere is making and posting the images. These too are abusers, as well as those who look. Everyone involved, even the ISPs who sit on there hands and say "we're not responsible we just provide internet", yes they have a responsibility, it can be done. Trace the perpetrators and tell the police.

We must STOP it.

Compulsory Cycle Helmets

I make no apology for being passionate about Cycle Helmets. We have personal experience, and every need to thank them! Please ensure all children wear a helmet.

End of the Road for the Middle Lane Hoggers

YES FRIDAY IS THE LAST DAY TO HOG THE MIDDLE LANE AND GET AWAY WITH IT!

At least it will be if we ever see any police patrols on the Motorways. Where are they?

I don't see them. That's why folk use Mobile phones - at least here in rural Lincolnshire you're chance of being caught is NIL. No Police see.

I'd love to see the Rules enforced - ALL of THEM. But they won't be. So why worry. They need Cameras to catch you via your number plate. Maybe they'll use an App that can track your movements in real time via your mobile phone GPS signal SOMEDAY then they can see if you're speeding as well. These Law Breakers can kill people.

Remember Big Brother Can Watch you!!

It could happen.

What did I say - look Rubbish bins secretly setup to scan your phone. they track where you are. They say its anonymous but really if its linked back to a database they can link to you via your phone's IMEI code etc.

BIG BROTHER

Bedroom Tax? I don't get it.

So surprise surprise the "Bedroom Tax" is driving people to small houses and big ones are remaining empty.

Where are all these families that need big houses? It doesn't seem to affect the likes of Mrs Abu Quatada does it. Still living in her mansion in London at the Taxpayers expense? Move her up North - plenty of big houses here and they're much cheaper.

SO how does it work, is it like the Window Tax? That didn't last did it.
Why don't people share big houses? I shared a house for 3 years when I was a Student. Ever watched Friends? Don't they share?

But seriously isn't it a Human Right to have a spare bedroom? Surely that should be the limit
occupants+1 spare room should be paid for by law.

I agree we can't go on funding endless folk living in bigger and bigger houses on benefits. Any way who said that everyone has a Human right to their own house, even if they have no money or job?

Comments please.

Underage sex - the perpetrators are Paedophiles

So at last someone has been actually prosecuted for having sex with a girl under 16.

It has always puzzled me that sex under age is illegal but yet there ar so many girls under 16 having babies. Is the father ever prosecuted? Not usually. Yet if he's over 18 and technically an adult then sex with an under 16 is having sex with a child.

Why do these men not get jailed as paedophile?

I admit that if the girl is 15 and the boy is 16 accidents can happen we've all been there?

So what I'm saying is that we should have zero tolerance of this behaviour its just the thin end of the wedge. Where would you stop.

Imagine a teacher of 35 has sex with a pupil 15 - is he a paedophile? Certainly he's broken the law and should be rightly punished. He is in a position of trust, loco parentis. My argument is if you're an adult and you have sex with a child under 16 its illegal.

Maybe if there were more prosecutions the message would get across?

Anti-social Scooter riders?

I do fear not being mobile. Living in a rural county where public transport is next to non-existent I worry that I ever won't be able to drive, but these folk on their Mobility Scooters!!

Have you seen them? They are 3 categories

  1. Fat Folk - who are just too heavy to walk - get OFF your scooter and get some exercise.,
  2. old dodderers - genuine frail old folk who need to get about and would not be able to use a car.
  3. oldish dodderers - who are the above but when they get a mobility scooter every one else becomes in visible!

They drive around with no thought to crashing in to people, leave countless accidents in their wake!

Yes this council/police are  right they must be made responsible. There are laws and regulations and they should be enforced.

Soft Britain

Most of the time I'm angry that we are soft and criminals get away with waving the "Human Rights" trump card at our courts to stay here. Look at Abu Hamza, how long it took to get rid of him, living here on our benefits whilst vilifying our country and culture. Still we are looking after his family.

Then there are the Criminals who come her and accept our hospitality only to throw it back at us with vile acts against our laws. We may catch them and punish them but then let them stay because they have a "Right to a family life" here. Instead of deporting them. When they broke our laws they gave up their rights haven't they?

Now we have the opposite here. A sensible father is to lose his children because they were not born here. Why can't he claim its his Human right to a family"? ~They want to split them up and send his boys to South Africa
He's not a scrounger he has a job earning a fair wage but deemed "not enough" to stay. So I ask you how do these criminals (Mr Tutt has  not broken the law) exists here on handouts?

CRAZY.

The Recycling Fiasco

What does your council really do with your waste?

Is it a con?

It certainly is ridiculous. How are people expected to know what is recyclable and what is not. The manufacturers have a responsibility  There are too many forms of plastic - not all recyclable and then what if they are mixed?

  1. What we need is uniform scheme of collection all across the country,
  2. Legislation to make manufacturers use recyclable materials and label them clearly.
The amount of packaging is ridiculous, bottles in plastic wrappers with cardboard around.

Mark recyclable containers with the 3 circular arrows, not numbers - who knows if its 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5? and which is recyclable here but not there.

We don't need plastic made from oil we can use a form of cellulose from plants - works the same and is biodegradable.

Wood is good. Even if we landfill it. Wood = carbon. Buried it stays our of the atmosphere, degrades and we plant more trees to replace hence reducing CO2.

Lets get it sorted for the planets sake.

Driving while using a mobile phone

I totally disagree with using a mobile phone whilst driving. Its dangerous - how can you control a car with the other hand holding a phone? I often encounter cars around here (Lincolnshire) with the driver having a mobile clamped to his ear, driving with his elbows! Why, you see they don't get caught. There's no deterrent in fines and points if you stand ZERO chance of getting caught, no police around here.

Its like drink driving, people now almost universally agree NOT to do it. If you do it you are shunned as a pariah. Its genuine antisocial behaviour. Worse you could kill someone or even yourself. Its exactly the same with a  mobile but when are we gong to treat people the same as a society as DOL drivers?

I also think the same about smoking. If it started today what would folk say about lighting a piece of weed wrapped in paper,  holding it in one hand taking it off the wheel to whilst you were driving , then puffing on it breathing in the smoke! It would be banned. You can't have naked flames in a car! how stupid and dangerous.

Anyway, I watched a film the other night, and have you noticed how in America they often show the actors driving and using a mobile phone! (cell phone). Is it NOT illegal in America? I think the censors should rate these films/programmes X if they show a patently illegal and dangerous act in a film in this country. Or be forced to put a warning on screen, "this film depicts driving whilst using a mobile phone which is contrary to UK Law". If its part of the story like anything else (killing people is illegal but we all know that), then let them show it but like supposedly the rating stops children seeing it and  being influenced (like killing) only adults should be allowed to see it.

Any answers on US law?
