Electric Cars Are NOT GREEN

Electric Cars Are NOT GREEN

so, sales of electric/hybrid cars are picking up even though the subsidy is going and the price of fuel has come down.

but its not going to be good for the environment in the long term unless we get the technology right.

Why? - you ask.

Well, Physics says that the internal combustion engine is more efficient than generating electricity at a power station and "charging" your car with a wire.

As long as electricity is generated by fossil fuels its BAD for the environment and they are FINITE.

I won't explain the Physics but look at the 2nd law of thermodynamics and the Carnot Cycle.

What I want to see is 2 things

  1. Electricity generated by non-fossil fuels
  2. Charging done Wirelessly - then there is no range-anxiety

Ideally we could have an electric car powered by solar energy/and or hydrogen (water). The science exists to turn water in to Hydrogen and oxygen. Put the water in the car (free?), electricity converts the water to Hydrogen (oxygen is released) then when you want to move the Hydrogen is used to power the car - either electrically or by combustion - exhaust gas is Water.

This will work for town driving/commuting but it will be a long time before long distances can be covered by pure electric cars.

So what anyway?

Oh, the other thing - TAX.

What is HMG going to do without the Road Tax and fuel duty now no one buys fuel, or has a zero rated car?

Hmmm, yes you guessed they tax them another way, tax on electricity I bet or road charging.

Can't win!

Will the lights go out this winter ? Maybe.

Will the lights go ut this winter we are warned the margin is small. Yes this is what happens when Governments allow reckless Companies to cash in on the Gas boom of the 80's and 90's. Gas power should only be used for "topping up" power at times of peak demand yet Gas power stations were all rage - they were cheap to build and run, low in pollution (but not CO2)  and reaped in the payments. North Sea gas has gone and you don't see so many now.

Wind Power is unreliable - what we don't want is prolonged cold and no wind, then Russia might turn the Gas off. We've even less of a store of Gas - that might worry you. the cold winter before we got down to 1 yes 1 days supply! I can sit in the dark as long as the heatings on. Without Gas what do you do - light a fire.? In the power cut ther's no "heater" to put on.

Be worried. it take 10 years to build a new Nuclear power station. They are just starting on the first one for over 20 years that's why we're in trouble. What about tidal - its reliable, renewable and non polluting and could help with flood defences.

We all need to shout about it.

Who is EnergieKontor UK?

Funny a German owned company like this can put up dozens of Wind Turbines but only has 12employees?

4 directors

Guy Alexander Wilson born 1967 14yrs with EnergieKontor
Peter Robert Harrison
Peter Szabo
Thomas Walther

Who are they and where do they live? Do they build Turbines near them I wonder?

Their Real address is,

4330 Park Approach | Thorpe Park | Leeds | LS15 8GB

In 2012 they had only 12 employees - how can they build Wind Turbines - must be
like Popeye and eat plenty of spinach! they don't seem to have much money either look-

Asserby Turbine Drawing 115m Tall!

This is a diagram of the proposed Asserby  Turbine

115m Tall

The Lincolnshire Wolds at Ulceby Top are only 96m above Sea Level.

Huge eh?

Now poisoning our water - Fluoride

Worse than Wind Turbines - next they want to poison our Water.

Fluoride in the Water. That old chestnut.

Arrrgh! Mass Medication - where will the Nanny State end? What can we do when our WATER is polluted? Let me dig out my information on why Fluoride in water is harmful to health.

I thought with all the cutbacks it had died a death, but this seems to say its back on again?

WindFarms - Government seeing the Scam?

Yes some chink of light from the Government - even though they themselves can't agree, that Wind Farms are divisive. Some landowners get RICH - yes Generating Money). Now Owen Paterson seems to be on the sensible side.
see my evidence below.
Quote "But the Conservative Environment Secretary Owen Paterson says some people consider wind farms a complete scam - and the prime minister recently said he didn't expect many more wind farms in the British countryside."

The infrastructure isn't there, its like open cast mining but above ground taking away our countryside forever! Balcombe type protests would appear.

Lets keep up the message to them - Wind Energy is wasting loads of OUR money.

Warnings again - the lights will go out

So here we go, I've warned you and now the media are catching on. Because the Government has dithered we are running out of Energy and remember we are at the bottom of a recession Thank God.

SO what will we do. Build more Wind Turbines!! NOoooooooooooo!

Watch this space I'm going to tell you how to Genereate CASH =- Millions of it. All Legal and honest and not a tax dodge. All paid for by you and me.

Keep Looking.

Wind Farms get paid for NOT generating electricity

WOW am I mad. I found out today that Wind Farms get paid for NOT generating electricity!

Its  bad enough that they are so subsidised to make it worth while in the first place, I've said this before but to actually be told NOT to generate electricity and then get Compensation is MAD!

Its a bit technical but the National Grid pays all Generators compensation if they don't need the electricity they are generating - effectivly throwing it away and compensating them. SO if its too windy and there is loads of Wind Energy and we don't need it they tell them to stop and compensate them.

CRAZY.

We should use all the Wind Energy and shut down the Coal/Gas/Nuclear/Oil etc.?

NO to ASSERBY WINDFARM

I'm outraged about a plan to put 4 huge windturbines withinn 2 miles of my house on the beautiful unspoilt Lincolnshire coast. Just between the Lincolnshire Wolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (designated) and the Coastal Country Park (Coastal Grazing Marshes) a protected historic landscape.

Look at ELDC Website

Search for this refernce.

N/016/00821/13
LAND SOUTH OF WILLOW FARM, ASSERBY ROAD, ASSERBY

Environmental Impact Assessment (E.E.C. Directive 85/337/E.E.C. as amended by Council Directive 97/11E.C.) for a scoping opinion with respect to the proposed Asserby Wind Farm.

EnergiKontor UK is behind this plan a multi-national multi-billion poound company.

They are behind the recently passed at appeal Gayton Le Marsh farm

They are giving the local parishes £60000 between them as their 30 pieces of silver. What a betrayal.

You cannot buy a view, but you can take it away. The view will be gone for over a Generation. For some people that will be a lifetime. Yes I know the GREEN arguments and yes something should be done.

We can stop being greedy! Energy consumption can be reduced. Theri is solar and nuclear and tidal.

I would want at least FREE Electricity for life to persuade me to sell my view.

Tiring day in the Garden

Today's task was Cut the Grass. Well its done.
Beginning with fixing the caravan cupboard door. The trim had started coming off. Just needed sticking back, but it had to be the door next to the Microwave which was partially covered so necessitating me taking the whole door off. any way glued, but it curves so had to "bend" it around. Some tape stuck along would hold it in place. then grass cutting. Finally disaster a gust of wind took the poly tunnel door and broke it. Granted the wood is ageing but so I spent an extra 45mins fixing it. Now sat with a  glass of wine and poacher cheese.

So the Government have heeded my advice and moving in the right direction and announced measures to ensure one's pension pots move with you when you move jobs.

As I have said before its a scandal that if you move jobs (frequently - and who has a job for life these days) each company pension you have is worthless if you've oly got a few years in it. Less that 2 and you can cash in but then you end up with no pension hence the Pension Crisis we're in now. If you add up all the years then if you were in one scheme it should be quite good. So if the Government puts its foot down and MAKES the Bankers (Pension funds) play fair then transferring should not be penalised (so much), In the long run the Government benefits as we all get fairly decent private pensions, we all want to join a scheme and thus don't need to depend on handouts.

Energy - worse than higher prices - what to do when the lights go out?

We are blindly sleep walking into a crisis.

I could write a book on this but the future of energy in this country is bleak.

I am old enough to remember the rota cuts in tte 70's under Heath. Its not nice. It could happen here in 3 - 6 years.

We are using more and more energy even though it is getting more expensive yet supply must match demand. Its a law of physics like night follows day - ask Prof Brian Cox - he knows everything.

Anyway why be worried? Because we're shutting power stations and not building new ones. Forget the turbines - ONE gigawat power station would be equivalent to 10000 turbines so where and how are they going to build them? By april 10% of our supply will be turned off - what then? That's about 5gw, or 50,000 turbines - LOL!! remember does the wind blow 24x7?

We've had the dash-for-gas about 15yrs ago many gas fired power stations were built cheap, clean and efficient but drained our gas reserves and they only last about 10-15years. Not a good idea so now we need several nuclear stations to replace the gap but where and how will they be built. They take about 5-10yrs to get going - we can't wait that long hence the GAP. That's when the lights go out.

Believe me you read it here.

The good thing about this economic crisis is it reduces demand for power giving us a little breathing space. But when things pick up? What about fuel where is that to come from? GAS - probably from Russia or the middle east but then we're dependant on imports and what if there's trouble? Look at events in Africa with Al Qaeda taking over. Be worried.

We could use less - fat chance! Technology advances to make more efficient devices, but what about all those electric cars? where do they get their power? WE could spend the money on turbines on insulating our homes better or putting solar panels on every house! Why not?

Funny  thing is we're sitting on 200 years worth of Coal - but they won't use that its "dirty". Technology exists to burn it cleanly but its more expensive so BILLS UP! one way or another.

SORRY.

Water power - why not?

So we've had the wettest 2012 since records began, so isn't it time we found a use for this water?

2 things - tidal power and Hydro-electricity.

So why don't we harness the tidal power? The tide goes in and out twice a day GUARANTEED.

Then all this water that fell on us, build some dams up in the hills and make it generate electricity as it flows out? You never know it might protect the valleys below.
