Baby killer parents jailed

I feel so sorry for this couple. Yes they were responsible for her death and justly are punished but this won't help. Where on earth were Social Services? They should haver protected the baby. They didn't just accidentally live there and they were alcoholics. I suppose they felt shgasring their bed with the bvaby they were protecting it but falling unconscious in an alcoholic stupor they didn't know what was happening. Squalid conditions to live in, is there no help for people like this? I despair.

Yes they are jailed. Where were Social Services? They were known to the authorities yet they left them in these squalid conditions to look after this baby. At the very least they should have saved the baby?

Wipe ISIS out?

We seem to be obsessed and terrified by terrorism but I ask, how many people a year are killed by terrorists? Donald Trump wants to eliminate ISIS. In reality terrorists don't kill as many as are killed by DRUGS. Why aren't we at war with the countries who produce drugs? Over 3000 recorded drug related deaths in 2025 and who knows what misery and crime is drug related? So why aren't our Governments fighting this with all their effort. We should be at WAR with the purveyors of drugs, the countries that supply the drugs. Yes, I suppose they don't condone it but say Columbia is where heroin etc originates for one. What about border police/ customs stopping it coming in?

Getting Killed at work?

If I died in an accident at work I would expect my employer to investigated by the HSE for any breaches in "safe Working practices" and if they were negligent I would expect them to be prosecuted. Any one at work expects their employer to use heir duty of care and protect you as far as is reasonably possible.

How come then Ann Maguire a teacher killed in her classroom does NOT appear to have the same protection, Is the school or LEA to be investigated by the HSE? No.

This is scandalous.

What will be done about it - what does her union have to say?

Salute to D Day veterans

I salute all the D Day soldiers, sailors and airmen who risked all for their country and our futures.

It saddens me though to think that the world in which we live today has some crazy values but they fought for the right to have these crazy values?

Amanda Platell in the Daily Mail sums it up, do we respect our old people, no we put them in homes out of sight out of mind. Where is our respect for age and wisdom?

In the 40's/50's people were grateful for what they had, now they expect everything on a plate even thought they've done nothing to justify it. Its your Human Right to it eh?

Putin is great? For us!

Putin is to be feared. We need to be prepared to stand up to him. We need the wake up call. For too long now we've been complacent sitting back and getting fat. We are cutting our armed forces and being weak. So maybe soon Putin  Will test us for real. He is showing us up. No sitting back getting fat for him. Like it or not he is galvanising his country and they Will be a formidable foe both militaryly and economically. We need stomach this. We need the kick up the backside. Suppose there was a war, all our young people would have purpose, no unemployment. Not nice to sacrifice lives but what about the wasted lives, drugs , and idleness make? Living death for many.

Dementia - living death!

So, the Government pledges to DOUBLE spending on Dementia by 2025. Big Deal!

Yes increased spending can only be good but doubling peanuts in 10 years is still peanuts. 

WE have a crisis in Pensions, people a re living longer but what quality of life? What if you live to 80 but the last 5 years you were in a care home, bed bound and dribbling?

Surely money spent on curing dementia will actually save the country millions and let these people lead active  fulfilling lives INDEPENDENTLY?

This Government needs proper energy Policy or we're doomed.
How come Sweden can tackle it?

End of the Road for the Middle Lane Hoggers

I don't see them. That's why folk use Mobile phones - at least here in rural Lincolnshire you're chance of being caught is NIL. No Police see.

I'd love to see the Rules enforced - ALL of THEM. But they won't be. So why worry. They need Cameras to catch you via your number plate. Maybe they'll use an App that can track your movements in real time via your mobile phone GPS signal SOMEDAY then they can see if you're speeding as well. These Law Breakers can kill people.

What did I say - look Rubbish bins secretly setup to scan your phone. they track where you are. They say its anonymous but really if its linked back to a database they can link to you via your phone's IMEI code etc.

Very sad the death of mother and daughter. If they were using s petrol enerator inboard on the boat that was very silly. But people just don't realise. CO doesn't smell so they think the exhaust is safe!!

NO!

For the sake of £20 everybody should have a CO Detector, in their house, in their Caravan, boat wherever. 

How much is a life worth?

1953 Floods on Lincolnshire Coast

So today is the 60th anniversary of the disastrous floods on the Lincolnshire and the whole East Coast of England - January 31st 1953.

Let us remember the ones who died - 42 in Lincolnshire, I think over 1300 in Holland and Belgium, over 300 in England in total. Regardless of Global Warming lets remember the awful power of nature.

Unfortunately this area of Lincolnshire is now one of the most deprived in Europe. It has a demographic population of over 55s much greater than average and also because of low incomes there are a greater number in fuel poverty.

It seems the Government and council are unwilling to help because of the "Flood Risk". I can see that they don't want to put more people at risk but there are alternative arguments.

What should we do - just evacuate all the people and turn it into a no-mans land? 

It seems there are Wind Farm builders Queuing up to build their Wind Turbines - I know they can be built in the sea, there are hundreds off shore at the moment, but do they really want to put them on land that will flood? Or should we let them - the price being to beef up the sea defences for the Locals?

Its a choice to be made.

Alternatively with land so cheap etc. why can't other industries be attracted? After all we've seen in the last couple of years there are parts of the inland country that are prone to floods where it was previously unheard of. Weigh that one up - Environment Agency.

RIP - Sir Patrick Moore

Sorry to hear Sir Patrick Moore has really gone to the Heavens. I'm sure he'll be up there forever now looking down on us. He's someone who has always been there. RIP

Osborne to scrap fuel duty rise?

Here we go again - Fuel Duty to rise? - lets face it we all know the oil is running out. We're killing the planet burning it but like any addict we can't stop.

Is the Government wrong  We say "it won't make any difference, I'll keep my car going and my bit won't matter." Well I suppose it does.

Now another thing - suppose we all switch to electric cars, what will the Government do then? All that duty lost. We're not buying any petrol or diesel.

WRONG - they'll make it up. Road tax on electric cars is going to rise, then they'll charge us by the mile to use the roads. Its a WIN WIN for the Government.

Just Grit your teeth and pay, or don't travel, live near your work. It used to be like that, I'm just old enough to remember.
