Lincolnshire NIMBYs

It seems that some folk in Lincolnshire are against housing development. Well given the vat areasofopen space in Lincolnshire I would have thought it ideal for development. If people move in here they bring with them(assuming they have work?), spending power an demand facilities like shops, schools, doctors, etc, etc. These facilities are sorely needed in the east of the county. Yes its  a peaceful wasteland for a few who live there. Look at the South East  of the country - demand is insatiable but where are the open spaces? Things need to move North to give us all a better life. Please lets share our county there's plenty of room for everyone.

Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue consultaion.

Lincolnshire Fire and rescue consultation

Get your response in by February 2015

Here is what I say.

I believe that revision of provision is best served by rapid response then based on assesment additional support pulled in as necessary. Not all fires/incidents need the full crew and fullsize tender. Why not provide smaller vehicles with basic equipment to attend small fires and incidents quickly say 2 crew. the standard Fire Engine and crew can be called in if necessary. Whilst I do not object to fire crews assisting with other emergencies when not involved otherwise I think this has a detrimental effect on fire crews. Facilities could/should be shared across the blue light services.

Fuss over too English school

I agree that Ofsted seem OTT over this school report but I can also understand the circumstances. Realistically it is very difficult for a school in deepest Lincolnshire to "arrange" to get their children more ethnic diversity.

Taking a trip say to Bradford school for a day would be a shock to their systems poor mites and actually probably;y do more harm than good. A school of black children in funny clothes with strange language and smells would be more like visiting a zoo for the children and not let them experience these people properly as equals.

Here in deepest Lincolnshire its like stepping back 50 years. It was a shock to my system when I first came here. They are very insular. Any "outsiders" are treated with caution. Its taken 10 years but I think they accept me as an incomer - I'll never be a yellow belly but they make jokes with me not at me now about "yorkies" (the tourists from Sheffield etc).

The problem here is the culture. They have this "slagging off" banter, but its not offensive, at least not meant to be offensive to the people concerned. Every body gets taunted and picked on but its a form of affection though if you're an outsider you'd be appalled and some things could get people locked up. So if you ARE an outsider say "black" or "gay" then you'd feel offended at the homophobia or racism but its not "meant" that way, but that's how they are.

Only when the minorities actually start appearing in larger Numbers will this change. I wonder when that will be? I often say Lincolnshire is the Land time forgot.

Immigrants HIV and the cost to the NHS

Sue Reid is right, health tourism, we are a soft option.

What riles me is that she says,

The process is simple: Foreigners can get a unique and permanent NHS number, which they are then usually able to use to get free hospital care. They can also book an appointment online or just walk in without a doctor’s referral.

this makes my blood boil, how dare they, if only WE had a service as good as THAT, here in Lincolnshire.

Here we can't do any of that. Ring up, if you're lucky you could be one of the first 20 or so to get an appointment TODAY - (fair enough) but that's it, wait till tomorrow and try again. No walking in, no prebooking.

I've lived here 58 years and paid my NI TAX etc. why are WE the 2nd class citizens to Immigrants?

NO to Asserby WindFarm - who owns the land?

I have asked just who is Energie Kontor? They are the Company putting in the planning application to ELDC but they don't own the land. This seems wrong in that if I wanted to extend my house I would have to put in planning form my house and my neighbours would know exactly what I was planning.

Asserby Wind farm is simply and vaguely Land to the South of Asserby.....but who owns this vast tract of land - well I think its basically 3 people. These people will benefit to the tune on many millions of pounds over the years from the Turbine Earnings - mainly from Government (yours and mine) subsidies, even if the Turbines aren't generating!

So, I believe one landowner is

Gary Allis,
Furzehill Farm, Bilsby,
Alford, Lincolnshire, LN13 9QS

He is well known locally for his cricketing exploits and Farm (650 acres) innovations - good luck to him as a farmer I say, but how will he live with his neighbours when he's angered so many and destroyed the areas heritage? I thought farmesrs cared about the land, sorry no its a business, he wants to earn MAXIMUM from hi Land. Wind Turbines harvest the Wind!!

Mrs Sarah Jane Alliss is also a director.

I show you the theoretical income from a 10gw windfarm as proposed for Asserby, shared between, EnergieKontor and 3 people of course.

Travellers move on?

Here we go again Travellers set up camp somewhere illegally but bizarly it takes days to evict them legally.
Skegness Car Park - I hope they all got their tickets from the machines properly and were parked in the correct bays? Ha Ha!! Bet not. Will they get fined? Of course not.
Why do  some laws apply to some people (residents who pay Council Tax) but not others?
travellers 3
If they want to camp - there are loads of sites along the coast. East Lincolnshire is the Caravan Capital. Bet they don't want to pay either its their Human Right?

Victory for Villagers! Good on you, except they're breaking the law!

nurses from Spain and Portugal

why does NHS lincolnshire have to go abroad for 40 nurses ? don't we train nurses here any more? Surely there are loads of youngsters who would like to nurse. maybe its because now its got to be a Degree or nothing . why not set up apprenticeships so they can learn on the job and go as far as they want?

No to Asserby Wind Farm and Farms everywhere

Look at the Government statistics for your area.

Not about wind farms but look at the stats for your area. This part of Lincolnshire (on the coast) is very below average for the country. The demographic profile is for older people and their problems (health etc). IF the Government is pouring milllions into the area - THE MONEY GOING TO THE TURBINE OPERATORS - why don't they do the MORAL thing and spread it around the area for the benefit of the residents and not just the few FAT CATS who are just getting FATTER! It s the reverse ROBIN HOOD syndrome - rob the poor togive to the rich! Just to appease the Bureaucrats in Brussels.

Lioncolnshire closing Libraries

So Lincolnshire is to close many Libraries to save money. People cry "No!"

But really who uses the Libraries any more? They are very poor have you been to one lately?

Sutton on -sea or Mablethorpe - where are all the books.

Mostly you have to order books that don't even come to Sutton - you have to go to Skegness to get them.

Then the "Consultation" they had it in Louth - when most resident s are in Sutton/Trusthorpe etc.

How do you get to Louth for a consultation? No Late buses or use your car 30mile round trip, 1 hour travelling. They said it was to accommodate the numbers. What about the  Dunes or the Church halls they can get 60/70 in.

County Council not really trying as usual - a done deed I say. As usual Ignore the coastal communities, Lincoln's alright!

Anyway I agree. Close the Library - its not open when I can get as I work all week.

What I want is on-line if I want. Download from Amazon to my kindle etc.

Why can't the Libraries be a "Download service"? Books subsidised on a 1 month expiry time - they self destrct after 1 month - it can be done.

Triton Knoll

Triton Knoll - the UK's largest offshore wind farm. 1200mw of power. It will generate at least £36billion for RWE over the next 25years - not allowing for increases in power prices. What does Lincolnshire get? just some cables underground and two great hulking substations the sizes of 20 football pitches. Is this FAIR?

NO to ASSERBY WINDFARM

I'm outraged about a plan to put 4 huge windturbines withinn 2 miles of my house on the beautiful unspoilt Lincolnshire coast. Just between the Lincolnshire Wolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (designated) and the Coastal Country Park (Coastal Grazing Marshes) a protected historic landscape.

Look at ELDC Website

Search for this refernce.

N/016/00821/13
LAND SOUTH OF WILLOW FARM, ASSERBY ROAD, ASSERBY

Environmental Impact Assessment (E.E.C. Directive 85/337/E.E.C. as amended by Council Directive 97/11E.C.) for a scoping opinion with respect to the proposed Asserby Wind Farm.

EnergiKontor UK is behind this plan a multi-national multi-billion poound company.

They are behind the recently passed at appeal Gayton Le Marsh farm

They are giving the local parishes £60000 between them as their 30 pieces of silver. What a betrayal.

You cannot buy a view, but you can take it away. The view will be gone for over a Generation. For some people that will be a lifetime. Yes I know the GREEN arguments and yes something should be done.

We can stop being greedy! Energy consumption can be reduced. Theri is solar and nuclear and tidal.

I would want at least FREE Electricity for life to persuade me to sell my view.

1953 Floods on Lincolnshire Coast

So today is the 60th anniversary of the disastrous floods on the Lincolnshire and the whole East Coast of England - January 31st 1953.

Let us remember the ones who died - 42 in Lincolnshire, I think over 1300 in Holland and Belgium, over 300 in England in total. Regardless of Global Warming lets remember the awful power of nature.

Unfortunately this area of Lincolnshire is now one of the most deprived in Europe. It has a demographic population of over 55s much greater than average and also because of low incomes there are a greater number in fuel poverty.

It seems the Government and council are unwilling to help because of the "Flood Risk". I can see that they don't want to put more people at risk but there are alternative arguments.

What should we do - just evacuate all the people and turn it into a no-mans land?

It seems there are Wind Farm builders Queuing up to build their Wind Turbines - I know they can be built in the sea, there are hundreds off shore at the moment, but do they really want to put them on land that will flood? Or should we let them - the price being to beef up the sea defences for the Locals?

Its a choice to be made.

Alternatively with land so cheap etc. why can't other industries be attracted? After all we've seen in the last couple of years there are parts of the inland country that are prone to floods where it was previously unheard of. Weigh that one up - Environment Agency.
